Arti Sehat Menurut Alkitab:

 3 Yohanes 2 “Saudaraku yang kekasih, aku

berdoa, semoga engkau baik-baik dan sehat-
sehat saja dalam segala sesuatu, sama seperti
jiwamu baik-baik saja.
 
 *Alkitab memandang kesehatan itu secara
Menyeluruh (Wholeness) baik jiwa dan seluruh
aspek kemanusiaan.
Mengapa Mempelajari Kesehatan
1. Karena Gereja Advent memiliki doktrin “Hidup Sehat” (Healthful Living Doctrine)
 Gereja Advent lebih dikenal dari gaya hidup sehat mereka dari pada
pemeliharaan Sabat yang mereka lakukan.

“Healthful living is secret duty which God has given to ration-able

beings.”

 Jadi Sebagai Penatalayan Allah, maka kita wajib:

 Menjaga kemurnian diri (1 Tim 5:22)
 Menyadari bahwa kita telah dibeli Allah dan harganya telah lunas dibayar, oleh
sebab kita kita harus memuliakan Allah dengan tubuh kita. (1 Kor 6:20)
 Kita bukanlah milik kita sendiri
 Tubuh kita adalah kaabah Allah dan Roh Allah tinggal di dalamnya (1 Kor 3:16)
Mengapa Mempelajari Kesehatan

2. Karena sedikitnya Ellen G. White (Nabiah bagi gereja yang sisa itu), telah
menuliskan tujuh buku yang berhubungan langsung dengan
kesehatan, antara lain:
 Ministry of Healing (Hidup yang Terbaik)
 Temperance (Pertarakan)
 Counsels on Health
 Medical Ministry
 Spiritual Gifts
 Counsels on Diet and Food (Petunjuk Diet dan Makanan Anda)
 Testimonies for the Church

3. Karena Gereja Advent telah menginvestasikan sumber-sumber

(sumber dana dan sumber daya manusia)ke dalam bidang
kesehatan atau lembaga kesehatan dalam jumlah yang
sangat banyak.
 4. Karena dalam khayalnya Ellen G. White melihat bahwa bidang
kesehatan adalah merupakan “the right hand” (tangan kanan) dari Injil.

5. Karena setiap anggota Gereja ditugaskan agar ikut ambil bagian dalam melakukan pelayanan
Kesehatan.

 Sementara hidup di dunia ini Kristus melakukan 3 jenis pelayanan yang saling berkaitan (tree-fold
ministry of Christ), yaitu:

 Melawat (Visiting)
 Berkhotbah (Preaching)
 Menyembuhkan (Healing)

 Alkitab mencatat bahwa Kristus mengunjungi kota-kota dan desa-desa. Dia mengajar di
Synagoge-synagoge, mengkhotbahkan khabar baik tentang kerajaan, dan menyembuhkan orang-
orang dari segala macam penyakit dan penderitaan.
PERAN PENDETA DALAM PELAYANAN KESEHATAN

“Read the scriptures carefully, and you will find that Christ spent the largest part of
His ministry in restoring the suffering and afflicted to health . . . . Ministers, do
not confine your work to giving Bible instruction. Do practical work. Seek to
restore the sick to health. This is true ministry. Remember that restoration of
the body prepares the way for restoration of the souls.”

enable him to administer the simpler remedies for the relief of suffering. Ministers and Bible Workers
should prepare themselves for this line of work; for in doing it they are following the example of Christ.
They should be as well prepared by education and practice to combat disease of the body as they are to
heal the sin-sick soul by pointing to the Great Physician . . . Christ stands by their side as ready to heal
the sick as when He was on this earth in person.”
