 Desain Produk
Pengertian desain produk menurut Ulrich & Eppinger
(2008, hlm. 190) adalah layanan profesional dalam
menciptakan dan mengembangkan konsep beserta
spesifikasinya yang mengoptimalkan fungsi, nilai,
dan tampilan produk hingga ke sistemnya agar
produk lebih menguntungkan bagi konsumen
maupun produsen.
 Desain Produk
adalah perancangan dan perencanaan suatu benda agar
memiliki nilai lebih dalam berbagai aspeknya
seperti fungsi yang lebih efektif, tampilan yang
lebih indah hingga kepenggunaan yang lebih
mudah dan nyaman serta tidak sulit dirawat untuk
kemudian diproduksi secara industri dengan lebih
efisien pula, baik secara ekonomi maupun teknis
sehingga memberikan keuntungan bagi konsumen
(pengguna) dan produsen
 5 Tujuan Proses Desain Produk
Ulrich & Eppinger (2008, hlm. 190) mengutip dari Drefyus (1967) menerangkan bahwa terdapat 5 tujuan penting
dalam proses desain produk, yaitu :

Utility (Kegunaan) Produk yang digunakan harus aman dan mudah pada saat digunakan

Appearance (Tampilan) Tampilan produk harus unik dan indah agar menjadi produk yang
menarik

Easy to maintenance Rancangan produk tidak hanya sebatas untuk penggunaannya saja,
(Kemudahan pemeliharaan) namun harus dirancang agar mudah untuk dirawat dan diperbaiki
juga

Low cost (Biaya rendah) Produk yang dirancang harus dapat diproduksi dengan biaya yang
rendah agar dapat bersaing

Communication (Komunikasi) Desain produk harus dapat mengomunikasikan filosofi dan misi
perusahaan atau perancang kepada konsumen

Prototype
Pengertian, Tahapan & Kegunaan
 Prototype
adalah sebuah contoh atau model awal dari produk.
Tujuan membuat prototype bukan untuk menguji
produk yang sudah selesai tapi untuk belajar
menemukan kesalahan dan kegagalan sebelum
produk benar-benar diluncurkan ke pasar.
Prototype memberikan gambaran sehingga penciptaan
produk dapat diulang dan diperbaiki.
 Tahapan Pembuatan Prototype Produk

Pendefinisian Produk – penerjemahan konsep teknikal yang berhubungan dengan

kebutuhan dan perilaku konsumen ke dalam bentuk perancangan termasuk aspek
hokum produk dan aspek hokum yang melibatkan keamanan dan perlindungan
terhadap konsumen

Working model – Working model dibangun untuk menguji parameter fungsional

dan membantu perancangan prototype rekayasa

Prototype rekayasa – Dibuat untuk keperluan pengujian kinerja operasional dan

kebutuhan rancangan sistem produksi
 Tahapan Pembuatan Prototype Produk

Prototype produksi – bentuknya dirancang dengan seluruh fungsi operasional untuk

menentukan kebutuhan dan metode produksi dibangun pada skala sesuangguhnya
dan dapat menghasilkan data kinerja dan daya tahan produk dan partnya

Qualified production item – dibuat dalam skala penuh berfungsi secara penuh dan
diproduksi pada tahap awal dalam jml kecil untuk memastikan produk memenuuhi segala
standar maupun peraturan yang diberlakukan terhadap produk tersebut biasanya untuk diuji
cobakan pada umum

Model – alat peraga yang mirip produk yang akan

dibangun (look like models)
