Islamic view of infertility method
1. Fertilization that is the product of the sperm of a husband and the ovum of a
woman other than his wife, where the embryo is then implanted in his wife’s
uterus, e.g., egg donorship.
2. Fertilization that is the product of a woman’s ovum by the sperm of a man
other than her husband, where the embryo is subsequently implanted in the
woman’s own uterus, i.e., sperm donorship.
3. Fertilization that is the product of the sperm of a husband and the ovum of his
wife, where the embryo is implanted in the uterus of a surrogate mother.
4. Fertilization that is the product of the sperm and ovum of two individuals
other than the couple who want to conceive a baby, where the embryo is
implanted in the wife’s uterus, that is, egg and sperm donorship.
5. Fertilization that is the product of the sperm of a man who has two wives and
the ovum originates with one wife, while the embryo is implanted in the
uterus of the other wife.
The Islamic Fiqh Council,1985 two in vitro fertilization
procedures are lawful
1. Fertilization that is the product of the husband’s sperm and
the wife’s ovum (sahibay al-nutfa wal-buwayda) achieved
outside the body, where the embryo is then inserted into the
wife’s uterus.
2. Fertilization that is the product of the husband’s sperm being
mechanically inserted into his wife’s uterus so that the
fertilization takes place inside her body.

• Adapun hukum tentang memindahkan embrio ke dalam rahim
wanita lain adalah berdasarkan hadis Nabi Muhammad SAW:
• ِ َِهْر َي غَ ْع َر ُز َه اءَ مَ ِيْقَس يْ َن أِ ِرخْ اآلِ ْم َو ْيالَ وِ َّ الَِّل بُ ِنْم ُؤ يٍ ِئْر مِ الُّ ِلَح ي

َو ْلَيْض ِرْبَن ِبُخ ُم ِرِهَّن َع َلٰى ُجُيوِبِهَّن ۖ َو اَل ُيْبِد يَن ِزيَنَتُهَّن ِإاَّل ِلُبُعوَلِتِهَّن َأْو َء اَبٓاِئِهَّن َأْو َء اَبٓاِء ُبُعوَلِتِهَّن َأْو
َأْبَنٓاِئِهَّن َأْو َأْبَنٓاِء ُبُعوَلِتِهَّن َأْو ِإْخ َٰو ِنِهَّن َأْو َبِنٓى ِإْخ َٰو ِنِهَّن َأْو َبِنٓى َأَخ َٰو ِتِهَّن َأْو ِنَس ٓاِئِهَّن َأْو َم ا َم َلَك ْت َأْيَٰم ُنُهَّن
َأِو ٱلَّٰت ِبِع يَن َغْيِر ُأ۟و ِلى ٱِإْل ْر َبِة ِم َن ٱلِّر َج اِل َأِو ٱلِّطْفِل ٱَّلِذ يَن َلْم َيْظَهُرو۟ا َع َلٰى َعْو َٰر ِت ٱلِّنَس ٓاِء ۖ َو اَل َيْض ِرْبَن
ِبَأْر ُج ِلِهَّن ِلُيْع َلَم َم ا ُيْخ ِفيَن ِم ن ِزيَنِتِهَّن ۚ َو ُتوُبٓو ۟ا ِإَلى ٱِهَّلل َجِم يًعا َأُّيَه ٱْلُم ْؤ ِم ُنوَن َلَع َّلُك ْم ُتْفِلُحوَن
Gender selection
“The reproductive substance of man is white and that of woman
is yellow, and when they have sexual intercourse and the male’s
substance prevails upon the female’s substance, it is a male child
that is created by Allah’s decree, and when the substance of the
female prevails upon the substance contributed by the male, a
female child is formed by the decree of Allah” (Sahih Muslim
Kitab Al Hayd)

ِإَّنَم ا َح َّر َم َع َلْيُك ُم ٱْلَم ْيَتَة َو ٱلَّد َم َو َلْح َم ٱْلِخ نِز يِر َو َم ٓا ُأِهَّل ِبِهۦ ِلَغْيِر ٱِهَّللۖ َفَمِن ٱْض ُطَّر َغْيَر
َباٍغ َو اَل َع اٍد َفٓاَل ِإْثَم َع َلْيِهۚ ِإَّن ٱَهَّلل َغ ُفوٌر َّر ِح يٌم
Sesungguhnya Allah hanya mengharamkan bagimu bangkai, darah, daging babi, dan
binatang yang (ketika disembelih) disebut (nama) selain Allah. Tetapi barangsiapa dalam
keadaan terpaksa (memakannya) sedang dia tidak menginginkannya dan tidak (pula)
melampaui batas, maka tidak ada dosa baginya. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Pengampun
lagi Maha Penyayang.
Mengapa kamu tidak mau memakan (binatang-binatang yang halal) yang disebut
nama Allah ketika menyembelihnya, padahal sesungguhnya Allah telah menjelaskan
kepada kamu apa yang diharamkan-Nya atasmu, kecuali apa yang terpaksa kamu
memakannya. Dan sesungguhnya kebanyakan (dari manusia) benar benar hendak
menyesatkan (orang lain) dengan hawa nafsu mereka tanpa pengetahuan.
Sesungguhnya Tuhanmu, Dialah yang lebih mengetahui orang-orang yang melampaui
batas.
