Abstract
High stigma among people, especially students against people with HIV / AIDS
(PLWHA) resulted in many people provide distance and fear of ODHA. The number
of people living with HIV continues to increase in Indonesia until 2017 amounted to
87.453 cases. Papua Province has HIV and AIDS cases as of 31 March 2018
amounting to 35837 cases, among them 13327 HIV cases and 22510 AIDS
cases. And Jayapura City has 6007 cases of HIV and AIDS including 1822 cases of
HIV and 4185 cases of AIDS. The high stigma of people living with HIV / AIDS in
the community, especially students due to lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS. The
purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of knowledge about
HIV/AIDS with stigma against PLHIV in the second semester students Regular
PSIK FK Uncen.
The research design used is a cross-sectional approach . The technique used is
purposive sampling, with respondents as many as 42 students. The research was
conducted on students of the second semester Uncen PSIK FK FK Regular PSIK
Uncen in May 2018. The results of the analysis of Chi-Square be obtained there is
significant relation between student knowledge and stigma to peolple living with
HIV and AIDS with a value of p value = 0.000 <α 0.005. It is advisable to related
educational institutions in order to disseminate HIV and AIDS can be given at the
beginning perkulihan or during orientation.
