Abstract: The dropout rate is still a serious problem in the education system in
many countries, including at the regional level. Therefore, this study aims to
analyze and evaluate the efforts made by the local government in reducing the
dropout rate. This study involves an analysis of local government policies,
programs launched, and steps taken to increase education participation. The
results of this study indicate that local governments have taken various steps to
encourage educational participation and reduce dropout rates. Some of the steps
taken include compulsory education policies, scholarship or financial assistance
programs, poverty alleviation, increasing educational accessibility, outreach and
awareness programs, and improving the quality of education. Although many
programs have been launched, significant challenges remain in reducing the
dropout rate. Some of the obstacles identified include limited resources, gaps in
infrastructure, lack of active community participation, and challenges to the
quality of education. Therefore, this study recommends the need for cooperation
between local governments, educational institutions and the community to
overcome these obstacles and increase the effectiveness of existing programs.
