Lifestyle Modifications for
Prevention of Hypertension
• Lose weight if overweight
• Limit alcohol
• Increase physical activity
• Decrease sodium intake
• Keep potassium intake at adequate levels
• Take in adequate amounts of calcium and magnesium
• Decrease intake of saturated fat and cholesterol
• Stop smoking
