ABSTRACK
Diabetes mellitus (DM) or called diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease disorder caused by the pancreas does
not produce enough insulin or the body can not use effectively produced insulin. The purpose of this study to
determine the relationship between physical activity and family history with the incidence of diabetes mellitus
type 2 in outpatients in the work area of puskesmastenga. This research is an analytic survey research using
case control design. Sample in this research is counted 100 respondent with case 50 and control 50. this
research use random sampling and maching technique at gender and age. The variables studied were physical
activity and family history of DM patients. Bivariate analysis using chi-square test. The results showed that
there is a relationship between physical activity with the incidence of DM with Pvalue = 0.026 OR = 0.358; (CI
(95%) = 0.143-0.899). There is a relationship between family history with DM incidence with Pvalue = 0,000
OR = 8,273; (CI (95%) = 3,357-20,388). The conclusion of this research is there is relationship between
physical activity and family history with the incidence of diabetes mellitus type 2 in outpatient in working area
of puskesmastenga. Suggestions in this study do the same research with different variables and locations also
can be the basis for further research.
