Gerakan keselamatan pasien adalah suatu program yang belum lama diimplementasikan
diseluruh dunia, karena itu masih dimungkinkan pengembangan untuk implementasinya.
Di Indonesia, PERSI telah mensosialisasikan langkah-langkah yang dipakai untuk
implementasi di rumah sakit seluruh Indonesia. Langkah-langkah tersebut adalah :
1. Membangun budaya keselamatan pasien (Create a culture that is open and fair).
2. Memimpin dan mendukung staf (Establish a clear and strong focus on Patient Safety
throughout your organization)
3. Mengintegrasikan kegiatan-kegiatan manajemen risiko (Develop systems and
processes to manage your risks and identify and assess things that could go wrong)
4. Meningkatkan kegiatan pelaporan (Ensure your staff can easily report incidents
locally and nationally)
5. Melibatkan dan berkomunikasi dengan pasien (Develop ways to communicate openly
with and listen to patients)
6. Belajar dan berbagi pengalaman tentang keselamatan pasien (Encourage staff to use
root cause analysis to learn how and why incidents happen)
7. Menerapkan solusi-solusi untuk mencegah cidera (Embed lessons through changes to
practice, processes or systems).
