Definition
An information report provides readers with information on chosen a topic by providing them
with facts. Generally an information report is written to provide facts about a living or non-
living object. It can be an individual object or a group of objects.
Generic structure
General Clasification ; Stating classification of general aspect of thing; animal, public place, plant,
etc which will be discussed in general (Menyatakan klasifikasi aspek umum hal; hewan, tempat
umum, tanaman, dll yang akan dibahas secara umum).
Description : tells what the phenomenon under discussion ; in terms of parts, qualities, habits or
behaviors. (Pada bagian ini biasanya memberikan gambaran fenomena-fenomena yang terjadi;
baik bagian-bagiannya, sifat-sifatnya, kebiasaannya, ataupun tingkah lakunya. Intinya adalah
penjabaran dari klasifikasi yang disajikan dengan ilmiah.)
Its social purpose is presenting information about something. They generally describe an entire
class of things, whether natural or made: mammals, the planets, rocks, plants, countries of region,
culture, transportation, and so on.

Language features
Present tense is a grammatical term used for verbs that describe action happening right now.
An example of present tense is the verb in the sentence "I eat." The verb tense expressing action
in the present time, as in She writes
use the simple present tense when an action is happening right now, or when it happens regularly
(or unceasingly, which is why it's sometimes called present indefinite). Depending on the person,
the simple present tense is formed by using the root form or by adding -s or -es to the end.

Using action verb. Action Verbs are words that express physical or mental actions. It is merely
expressing an action or something that a person, animal, force of nature, or thing can do. Action
verbs are verbs that show the action of the subject for example destroy,eat,etc.
Descriptive Languages
The descriptive languages used in information report texts are descriptive languages showing facts.
Pigeon
Pigeon refers to all birds of the family Columbidae and order Columbiformes. They consist of 310
species. Some people may also know them as “Doves”. There is no clear distinction between the
use of the word “pigeons” and “doves” until today. But generally, the word “Pigeons” is used to
address the species known as the Rock Dove, while the word “Doves” is used to address a pigeon
that is white.
Pigeons exhibit various size and color based on their species. The smallest species may have the
size of 15 cm and weight 30 g, while the largest species can grow up to 75 cm with the body
weight of 2 kg. Some of their color are: pale gray, white, brown, reddish and black. Most of them
have two black bars on their wings. They have a small head with short beak. Their body is
compact with two large and muscular wings and two short legs on it.
Pigeons can be found almost in any region in the world. They have been domesticated since
10.000 years ago. they have been used by humans for several purposes such as courier to deliver
short written messages, sacred symbols in a wedding ceremony, entertainment in a magic show
and also as a racing birds. Some species are also edible and they are served as food in some places.

Land Snails
All land snails are gastropod mollusks, meaning that they belong to the same group of octopuses,
which are part of the phylum Mollusca. At the same time, they are members of the class
Gastropoda, which includes all snails and slugs. Being a mollusk means lacking an internal
skeleton and bones, but snails are protected.
Snails have a single spirally coiled shell. They have muscular foot used for creeping in most
species. Land snails are incredibly slow. Their forward speed depends on the species, but usually,
it is between 0.5 and 0.7 inches per second. While moving, snails leave behind a trail of slime, a
lubricant they produce to allow them to go on any terrain without injuring its body. Land snails
aren’t able to hear at all, but they have eyes and olfactory organs.
They use their sense of smell to help them find food being their most important sensory organ.
Snails feed on very small things. Most of them scrape or brush particles from surfaces of rocks,
seaweeds, animals that don't move, and other objects. For feeding, snails use a radula, a hard plate
that has teeth.

Chipmunks
Chipmunks are small, ground-dwelling members of the squirrel (Sciuridae) family known for their
burrowing habits and love of nuts. All species of chipmunks are native to North America, except
one - the Siberian chipmunk.
Chipmunks can dig extensive burrow systems directly underneath or next to natural or manmade
cover. They dig two types of burrows: shallow burrows in which they seek refuge while foraging
during the day, and deeper, more complex burrows where they nest, store food and spend most of
the winter months.
Their average size is 5.08 until 15.24 centimeters in length. Their tail is around 7.62 centimeters
long. Their body have shades of brown/yellow/grey fur with white and black stripes down the
back.
Chipmunks are omnivores, dining on various types of foods that are found mostly on the ground.
Their diets are more diverse during the warmer months, during which time they hoard nuts and
seeds in their burrows to eat in the winter.

Groundhogs
Groundhogs, (Marmota monax), also called woodchucks, one of 14 species of marmots
(Marmota). Classified as a marmot, the groundhog is a member of the squirrel family, Sciuridae.
This stout-bodied rodent weighs up to 6 kg (13 pounds) and has a body length of up to 50 cm
(about 20 inches) and a short, bushy tail up to 18 cm (7 inches) long. They have thick fur on the
upper parts. The fur ranges in colour through various shades of brown. The fur in the feet are
darker, and the underparts are buff.
Although groundhogs dig deep and extensive burrow systems, they are also good swimmers and
can climb tall shrubs and sizable trees. They are most active in the morning and evening, eating
grasses and other green plants, as well as some fruit and the bark and buds of trees. They feed
heavily in summer and early fall, accumulating huge fat reserves for the winter. The animal is a
true hibernator.
