FABLE
A. Untuk siswa yang berkemampuan tinggi & berminat pada Fable
A Wolf had been feasting too greedily, and a bone had stuck crosswise in his throat.
He could get it neither up nor down, and of course, he could not eat a thing. Naturally, that
was an awful state of affairs for a greedy Wolf.
So away he hurried to the Crane. He was sure that she, with her long neck and bill,
would easily be able to reach the bone and pull it out. “I will reward you very handsomely”,
said the Wolf, “if you pull that bone out for me”.
The Crane, as you can imagine, was very uneasy about putting her head in Wolf’s
throat. But she was grasping in nature, so she did what the Wolf asked her to do. When the
Wolf felt that the bone was gone, he started to walk away.
“But what about my reward!” called the Crane anxiously.
“What!” snarled the Wolf, whirling around. “Haven’t you got it? Isn’t it enough that I
let you take your head out of my mouth without snapping it off?”
Moral: Expect no reward for serving the one who has no honor. Staying in a
company of selfish people will not do anyone any favor

The Legend of Sura and Baya
A long time ago, there were two creatures, Sura and Baya. Sura was the name of a
shark and Baya was a crocodile. They lived in an ocean.
When Sura and Baya were searching for some nourishment. Abruptly, Baya saw a
goat.
“Yummy, this is my lunch,” said Baya.
“No chance! This is my lunch. You are covetous” said Sura. At that point they battled
for the goat. Following a few hours, they were extremely drained.
Feeling tired of battling, they lived in the better places. Sura lived in the water and
Baya lived in the area. The outskirt was the shoreline, so they would never battle again.
One day, Sura went to the area and searched for some nourishment in the stream. He
was exceptionally ravenous and there was very little nourishment in the ocean. Baya was
extremely furious when he realized that Sura broke the guarantee.
They battled once more. They both hit one another. Sura bit Baya’s tail. Baya did
likewise to Sura. He bit hard until Sura at last surrendered and he went back to the ocean.
Baya was cheerful.

FAIRY TALES

Rapunzel
A poor couple got themselves into big trouble when they stole fruit from their
neighbor’s garden The neighbor, who was a witch, found out about the theft and demanded
that they give her their child when she was born, to which the couple accepted.
The young girl, named Rapunzel by the witch, grew up to be very beautiful, but was
kept locked away in the tower by the wicked witch, from which there was no way in or out.
When the witch wanted to go in and see her, she would say “Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down
your hair, so that I might climb the golden stair.”
One day, when Rapunzel was singing to pass the time, she happened to catch the
attention of a young prince, who was so enchanted by her voice that he learned the secret of
how to get to her. While Rapunzel was startled by him at first, they soon fell in love. It so
happened that Rapunzel accidentally told the witch, “My, you are much heavier than my
prince!” after which the witch, infuriated, chopped off her hair and threw her out into the
wilderness. The prince was blinded by thorns and roamed the land, lamenting his beloved
Rapunzel.
When they found each other again, the prince being lured by a beautiful voice, they
cried for joy, and the tears which fell from Rapunzel’s eyes went into the prince’s, and
cleansed them, enabling him to see again. The two lived together in peace for the rest of their
lives.
