IPE
◦ Interprofessional Education merupakan suatu proses dimana
sekelompok mahasiswa dan atau profesi kesehatan yang
memiliki perbedaan latar belakang profesi melakukan
pembelajaran bersama dalam periode tertentu, berinteraksi serta
berkolaborasi dalam upaya promotive, preventif, kuratif,
rehabilitatif dan jenis pelayanan kesehatan yang lain (WHO,
2018)

◦ A dentist should NOT only focus on oral cavity, but see the overall
health of patients

◦ For example, a 2019 paper published in the Journal of Clinical

Peri- odontology concluded that “periodontitis and diabetes had
the significant direct and indirect effects via each other on
increasing CKD [chronic kidney disease] incidence.
Misconception-2
◦ Dentist CAN NOT work alone!

◦ Dokter gigi perlu menyadari peran dan tanggung jawabnya

◦ Sesuaikan dengan kompetensi yang dimiliki
◦ Konsul ke sejawat yang lebih ahli, jika perlu

1. Ultimately, oral health is an important part of overall
health. As a result, dental students should learn the roles of other
healthcare team members and how to collaborate with them.

2. IPE has the potential to mend the disconnect between dentistry

and other healthcare fields if done effectively.

3. Dental students should use IPE as an opportunity to educate
students of different disciplines on their profession and the
importance of oral health.

4. Healthcare providers can provide better care to their patients if

they know their roles, the roles of others, and feel comfortable
communicating with other professionals.
