Question 1 (25%)
In a recent election campaign, KLM has just consolidated that 220 registered voters out of
500 contacted, favor a particular candidate. KLM wants to develop a 95% probability or
confidence interval estimate for the proportion of the population of registered voters that
favor the candidate.
a. Please estimate the range of interval that favor the candidate!
b. Suppose that KLM would like a 0.99 probability that the sample proportion is within
0.03 of the population proportion. How large a sample size is needed to meet the
required precision?
Question 2 (25%)
The Academia Survey Consultant wants to conduct a survey with the aim is to estimate
banking and hospital service time. For this reason, observations are made on the waiting time
data of each customer for one period which is obtained from the two business sectors. The
sample data was taken randomly from 11 customers separately and independently from bank
and hospital customers. The following data are the waiting times from 22 samples of
customers.
a. Calculate the average and standard deviation of waiting time at banks and hospitals.
b. Assuming the population variance is the same, determine the estimated limits of the
difference between the average waiting time from the survey results from the survey with
a significance level of 5%?
c. Do the same thing for significance level of 10%, what is your conclusion about the
differences with 5% significance level.
d. Is there a difference in average waiting time between the bank and the hospital at a
significance level of 5%
e. If the number of samples extended to 100 sample and variance of population is known,
what will be the differences in formula for interval estimation?

Question 3 (25%)
A large city installed LED streetlights, in part, to help reduce crime in particular areas. The
city collected the number of property crimes along nine randomly selected streets in the
month before and after the LED light installation, and claims that crime has been reduced.
The number of crime data is shown in the table.
Question 4 (25%)
The MAKSI FEB UI program is considering buying a copier machine among 5 (five) types,
namely the FC1, FC2, FC3, FC4 and FC5 types, where each type has different efficiency in
terms of the speed of the number of pages (sheets) copied in one minute. Six staff members
conducted an experiment to run each type of copier. The following data shows the number of
copied pages (sheets) that can be produced in one minute according to the type of copier, 1
trial, and according to the staff assigned to run each type of copier:
FC1 FC2 FC3 FC4 FC5
Staff 1 60 50 63 60 64
Staff 2 56 55 65 58 60
Staff 3 54 56 65 56 58
Staff 4 56 57 67 65 60
Staff 5 54 56 65 60 60
Staff 6 55 52 58 60 55
Some of the results of the calculation of the sum of squares (sum-square) and the average
squared (mean square) required for the ANOVA test are provided in the following table:

Questions:
a. Fill up the blanks in the table!
b. Next, using the 5 percent significant level, is there a difference in the average efficiency
between the 5 (five) types of copiers?
c. Is there a difference in the average efficiency of the 6 (six) staff?
d. What does the answer to the questions in points (a) and (b) mean if it is related to the
variation in data that occurs in the number of pages (sheets) of copied results per minute?
