a. Pengertian Label

Label adalah informasi atau keterangan detail dari sebuah produk yang tertulis di luar kemasan,

Dengan adanya label, konsumen atau kita yang akan menggunakan produk tersebut lebih jelas mengenai
bahan ataupun cara menggunakannya

b. Tujuan Label Produk

 Memberi informasi rinci tentang isi produk yang diberi label tanpa harus membuka kemasan.
 Sebagai sarana komunikasi produsen kepada konsumen tentang hal-hal yang perlu diketahui oleh
konsumen tentang produk tersebut, terutama hal-hal yang kasat mata atau tak diketahui secara
fisik.
 Memberi petunjuk yang tepat pada konsumen hingga diperoleh fungsi produk yang optimum.
 Sarana periklanan bagi produsen.
 Memberi ‘rasa aman’ bagi konsumen

Kemasan atau label biasanya terdapat dalam produk makanan (food), minuman (drink), obat(medicine),
Produk kecantikan (Cosmetics) dan lainnya.

Dalam Kemasan produk/label biasanya memberikan beberapa informasi sebagai berikut:

1. Name of the product (Nama Produk/barang)
2. Content/amount (Isi/jumlah)
3. Description (Penjelasan seputar produk)
4. Ingredients (Komposisi)
5. Nutrition Facts (Informasi Gizi)

6. Use (Kegunaan/indikasi)
7. Direction to use and Dosage (Cara menggunakan dan Dosis)
8. Direction to store (Petunjuk penyimpanan)
9. Expiration date (Tanggal kadaluarsa)

Contoh Label :

Contoh label di atas adalah Children Cough Syrup. Kadang informasi di kemasan atau label tidak ditulis
secara lengkap. Seperti contoh di atas, seperti  pada Use  dan expiration date. Namun, pada produk yang
lain ditulis secara lengkap. Berikut adalah contoh label yang lainnya:
