BAB I
PENDAHULUAN
Salah satu bukti dari kemajuan teknologi yaitu adanya hasil penggabungan
teknologi komputer dan teknologi teknologi mekanik atau biasa disebut mesin
CNC (Computer Numerical Control). Mesin CNC yang mudah ditemukan di
zaman sekarang misalnya mesin bubut CNC dan mesin frais. Computer
Numerical Control merupakan sistem otomasi mesin perkakas yang dioperasikan
oleh perintah yang diprogram secara abstrak dan disimpan di media penyimpanan.
Mesin bubut (turning machine) digunakan untuk memotong logam yang diputar
yang berbentuk silindris. Mesin frais (milling machine) merupakan salah satu
mesin konvensional yang mampu mengerjakan suatu benda kerja dalam
permukaan datar, sisi, tegak, miring, dan alur roda gigi. Adapun beberapa

B. Proses Permesinan
Setelah pengaturan stock setup dilakukan, proses permesinan dimulai
dengan memilih toolpath berdasarkan proses permesinan yang dilakukan
terlebih dahulu.
1. Facing
Proses permesinan yang pertama dilakukan adalah facing.
Facing dilakukan untuk mengurangi panjang dan meratakan
permukaan material awal benda kerja. Proses permesinan facing
diawali dengan pemilihan toolpath facing pada menu toolpath.
Lalu, dilakukan pemilihan pahat pada proses facing. Pahat yang
digunakan dalam proses facing adalah Rough Face Right - 80 Deg
dengan spesifikasi dan parameter sebagai berikut:

Untuk menambahkan proses grooving, digunakan perintah
groove pada toolbar turning lathe. Lalu, dilakukan chaining
dengan arah ke kiri. Setelah itu, parameter grooving akan muncul.
Parameter yang diatur dalam proses grooving adalah toolpath
parameters, groove shape parameter, groove rough parameter, dan
groove finish parameters. Berikut adalah pengaturan parameter
untuk proses grooving menggunakan pahat OD Groove Center
Narrow.
