Jawaban :

Saya akan mencoba menjawab pertanyaan - pertanyaan diatas satu per satu.

orang. Contohnya adalah "Sorry" (maaf) atau "See you" (sampai jumpa).

Mengenal kedua jenis bahasa ini membantu dalam memilih gaya komunikasi yang
paling tepat berdasarkan situasi dan audiens yang ada, memungkinkan komunikasi yang
lebih efektif dan tepat sasaran.

I will try to answer the questions above one by one.

1. Differentiate between Formal and Informal English:
Formal English is usually used in professional or academic contexts and tends to use more
complex sentence structures, more specialized or technical vocabulary, and avoids the use of
abbreviations or slang. In contrast, informal English is more often used in everyday
conversation or on social media, uses simpler structures, relaxed expressions, and can also
include idioms and slang.
Understanding these two types of language is important because each has a role in
communication. Formal language is important for situations that require clarity and
seriousness, such as legal documents, academics, or business communications. Informal
language makes everyday communication easier, making interactions more personal and
intimate.
2. Comparison of Two Sentences:
Sentence A ("Sorry, but we can't meet this deadline.") is an example of more informal
language. The use of the words "Sorry" and "but" suggests a more direct and personal style.
Sentence B (“We regret to inform you that we are unable to meet this deadline.”) represents
more formal language. The phrase "Regretfully" and the longer structure with the wording
"let me know" conveys the formality and seriousness of the situation. This sentence may be
more appropriate for formal business communications or in a professional context.
3. Difference between Slang and Colloquial Language:
Slang usually refers to words or phrases that are used commonly by certain, often younger,
groups and can depend greatly on the cultural context or particular social situation. Examples
of slang in English could be "lit" (very nice or interesting) or "ghost" (ignoring someone in
communication). Meanwhile, everyday language is the language used in routine
communication and tends to be more neutral and easily understood by most people. Examples
are "Sorry" (sorry) or "See you" (see you later).
Knowing these two types of language helps in choosing the most appropriate
communication style based on the situation and audience at hand, allowing for more effective
and targeted communication.
