Pengertian
Cerpen
Menurut Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI),
cerpen adalah sastra kisahan pendek atau kurang
dari 10 ribu kata yang memberikan kesan tunggal
yang dominan dan memusatkan diri pada satu tokoh
dalam satu situasi atau pada suatu ketika.

UNSUR –UNSUR PEMBANGUN CERPEN

Cerpen memiliki dua unsur pembangun, diantaranya
adalah unsur intrinsik dan ekstrinsik

Unsur Intrinsik
Unsur intrinsik cerpen terdiri dari tema, tokoh atau penokohan, alur
cerita, latar, gaya bahasa, sudut pandang dan amanat.

UNSUR INTRINSIK
A. TEMA

Tema merupakan ide atau gagasan dasar yang melatarbelakangi keseluruhan cerita yang ada
dari cerpen.
Tema memiliki sifat umum dan general yang dapat diambil dari lingkungan sekitar,
permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat, kisah pribadi pengarang sendiri, pendidikan, sejarah,
perjuangan romansa, persahabatan dan lain-lain.

UNSUR INTRINSIK
B. Penokohan

• Teknik Analitik Langsung

Teknik Analitik disebut juga teknik naratif, yakni cara menggambarkan atau mendeskripsikan
tokoh secara langsung oleh pengarang dan tidak berbelit-belit. Melalui narasi, pengarang
langsung menyebutkan watak dan karakter tokoh.
Contoh : Alam termasuk siswa yang paling rajin di antara teman-temannya. Ia pun tidak
merasa sombong walaupun berkali-kali dia mendapat juara bela diri. Sifatnya itulah yang
menyebabkan ia banyak disenangi teman-temannya.

B. Penokohan
• Penggambaran fisik dan perilaku tokoh • Penggambaran lingkungan kehidupan tokoh

Contoh : Seperti sedang berkampanye, orang-orang

desa itu serempak berteriak-teriak! Mereka menyuruh Contoh :
camat agar secepatnya keluar kantor. Tak lupa mereka Desa Karangsaga tidak kebagian aliran listrik.

B. Penokohan
• Penggambaran tata kebahasaan tokoh
Contoh :
Dia bilang, bukan maksudnya menyebarkan
provokasi. Tapi apa yang diucapkannya benarbenar
membuat orang sedesa marah.
• Pengungkapan jalan pikiran tokoh
Contoh :
Ia ingin menemui anak gadisnya itu tanpa ketakutan;
ingin ia mendekapnya, mencium bau keringatnya.
Dalam pikirannya, cuma anak gadisnya yangmasih
mau menyambutnya dirinya.

• Penggambaran oleh tokoh lain

Contoh :

Ia paling pandai bercerita, menyanyi, dan

menari. Tak jarang ia bertandang ke rumah
sambil membawa aneka brosur barang-barang
promosi. Yang menjengkelkan saya, seluruh
keluargaku jadi menaruh perhatian
kepadanya

Unsur Intrinsik
C. Alur

Alur merupakan pola pengembangan cerita yang terbentuk oleh hubungan sebab akibat ataupun bersifat kronologis.
Tahapan urutan kejadian tersebut adalah sebagai berikut, Penyebab Konflik, Konflik, dan Akibat Konflik. Selain itu
ada jenis Alur, yaitu : Alur maju, Alur Mundur, Alur Melingkar.

D. Latar
Latar atau setting meliputi tempat, waktu, peristiwa serta sosial yang digunakan dalam suatu cerita. Latar dalam
suatu cerita bisa bersifat faktual atau bisa pula yang imajinatif. Latar berfungsi untuk memperkuat atau mempertegas
keyakinan pembaca terhadap jalannya suatu cerita.

E. Sudut Pandang
Sudut pandang merupakan strategi yang digunakan oleh pengarang cerpen untuk menyampaikan ceritanya. Baik itu
sebagai orang pertama, kedua, ketiga. Bahkan acapkali para penulis menggunakan sudut pandang orang yang berada
di luar cerita.

F. Amanat

Amanat merupakan pesan yang hendak

disampaikan pengarang. Amanat dalam cerpen
umumnya bersifat tersirat. Kehadiran amanat,
pada umumnya tidak bisa lepas dari tema cerita.
Misalnya, tema cerita itu tentang perjuangan
kemerdekaan, amanat cerita itu pun tidak jauh
dari pentingnya mempertahankan kemerdekaan.
