Rehabilitasi adalah suatu upaya pemulihan kondisi fisik
maupun perilaku satwa hasil sitaan agar dapat
dikembalikan ke habitat alaminya. Dalam program
rehabilitasi, satwa ditempatkan didalam kandang dengan
pengayaan lingkungan semirip mungkin dengan habitat di
alam agar satwa termotivasi untuk berprilaku alami

Orang utan dicirikan oleh rambut di seluruh badannya yang
berwarna kemerahan. Satwa ini merupakan mamalia arboreal terbesar
yang menghabiskan hampir seluruh waktunya di pepohonan. Lengannya
yang panjang dan kuat serta tangan dan kakinya yang dapat
mencengkeram erat, membuat mereka dapat bergerak dengan lincah dari
satu cabang pohon ke cabang pohon yang lain.

Orang utan adalah satwa omnivora,
namun mereka Sebagian besar hanya makan
tumbuh-tumbuhan, seperti buah-buahan liar,
kulit pepohonan, dedaunan dan bunga.
Minumannya adalah air yang mereka seruput
dari lubang-lubang di pepohonan. Orang utan
membuat sarang-sarangnya di atas pohon
untuk tidur di malam hari dan beristirahat di
siang hari.
Habitat orang utan adalah di hutan-
hutan tropis, terutama di lembah-lembah
sungai.

orangutan bernama Belukar kesetrum dari tiang listrik yang biasa ada di
tepi jalan, ini adalah kasus pertama yang di tangani,
Akibat sengatan listrik ini, kondisi Belukar lumayan parah, Ketika tim
gabungan Wildlife Rescue Unit BKSDA Kalbar dan YIARI datang,
Belukar kesulitan bergerak dan banyak luka di sekujur tubuhnya. Di
pusat rehabilitasi Belukar menjalani perawatan intensif untuk luka
bakar yang dialaminya. Selain luka bakar, lengan kiri dan jari-jari
kanannya tidak dapat diluruskan.

Untuk itulah tim medis YIARI tidak hanya fokus pada penyembuhan luka
bakarnya, namun juga upaya terapi untuk mengembalikan kondisi
tangannya. Setelah satu bulan, kami berhasil memulihkan kembali
fungsi lengan dan jari-jemarinya, sehingga Belukar dapat
memakainya kembali untuk makan, menggenggam, bergelantungan,
dan melakukan fungsi-fungsi lain yang diperlukannya untuk hidup di
alam liar. Karena kondisinya sudah sembuh total, saat ini Belukar
sudah dipulangkan ke habitat aslinya di dalam kawasan Hutan Sentap
Kancang.

01 Manajemen kendang
Kandang berfungsi sebagai habitat buatan bagi satwa. Terdapat tiga
jenis kandang orangutan yaitu kandang peraga (kandang display), kandang karantina,
dan kandang tidur. Kandang peraga atau kandang display berfungsi sebagai tempat
tinggal orangutan yang dipertontonkan kepada pengunjung. Kandang peraga ini
berukuran sekitar 0.2 Ha dan dikelilingi oleh kolam, dengan kedalaman sekitar 2 m.
Hal ini dijadikan sebagai sekat yang bertujuan agar orangutan tidak
keluar dari kandang dan mendekat kepada pengunjung.
Kandang display memiliki sirkulasi udara cukup baik dan sinar matahari dapat
langsung masuk. Konstruksi kandang terbuat dari beton yang dikelilingi oleh pagar
dan pintu yang terbuat dari besi.Fasilitas yang ada di dalam kandang utama
diantaranya tempat bermain seperti kayu-kayu dan ban bekas masing-masing
sebanyak dua buah yang digantungkan dan dilengkapi dengan tali serta jembatan
besi.

jagung. Pakan tambahan berupa kacang tanah, wortel,
pepaya, dan telur. Pakan diberikan sebanyak dua kali
yaitu pagi dan sore hari. Waktu pemberian pakan
dilakukan pada pukul 09.00 WIB dan 15.00 WIB.

Komposisi pakan yang diberikan

setiap pagi dan sore hari berbeda-beda, untuk
menghindari kejenuhan yang dapat menurunkan
nafsu makan orangutan. Pakan tambahan kacang
tanah diberikan setiap pagi, telur diberikan dua
kali dalam seminggu, serta wortel dan pepaya
bersifat insidental.
03 Manajemen Kesehatan

Tindakan pencegahan penyakit pada

orangutan yang dilakukan oleh pengelola meliputi
pemeriksaan kondisi tubuh dan nafsu makan satwa,
pembersihan kandang dan lingkungan sekitar kandang,
memandikan orangutan, pemberian pakan yang tepat,
serta pemberian vaksin rabies yang tidak rutin dilakukan
setiap tahun.Tindakan pencegahan penyakit satwa
dilakukan melalui karantina, pengawasan evakuasi dan
mutasi satwa, pemerikasaan dan pengujian penyakit, dan
tindakan sanitasi (Dirjen PHKA 2011).
