Transpor pasif adalah proses perpindahan molekul atau ion
yang tidak memerlukan energi. Perpindahan molekul tersebut terjadi
secara spontan, dari konsentrasi tinggi ke rendah, serta transpor ini
berlangsung akibat adanya perbedaan konsentrasi antara zat atau
larutan.
Transpor pasif adalah pross perpindahan molekul atau ion
dengan menggunakan energi dari sel itu. Energi yang digunakan di
dalam sel adalah ATP (Adenosin Trifosfat) yaitu energi kimia tinggi
yang berasal dari hasil respirasi sel. Transpor aktif bersifat melawan
gradien konsentrasi.
Difusi adalah proses perpindahan zat (berupa gas, padat, cair)
tanpa melewati membran, dari daerah yang konsentrasinya tinggi ke
daerah yang konsentrasinya rendah sehingga konsentrasi zat
menjadi sama. Molekul zat dapat berdifusi hingga dicapai kerapatan
molekul yang sama dalam suatu ruangan secara spontan.
Osmosis dapat dikatakan sebagai difusi air (pelarut) dari
konsentrasi tinggi (larutan hipotonik) ke konsentrasi rendah (larutan
hipertonik) sehingga tercapai keseimbangan (isotonis) melalui
membran selektif permeabel.

Endositosis adalah proses pemasukan zat ke dalam sel.
Endositosis terhadap bahan padat disebut fagositosis, contohnya
leukosit memakan bakteri; endositosis terhadap bahan cair disebut
pinositosis, contohnya sel-sel embrio menyerap larutan nutrisi.
Eksositosis adalah proses pengeluaran zat dari dalam sel,
misalnya pada sekresi hormon.

1. Buatlah irisan kentang yang sudah dikupas, bentuk persegi panjang sebanyak
3 buah, dengan ukuran, bentuk, dan berat yang sama.
2. Buatlah larutan gula 10% = 10 gram gula pasir + 100 ml air
Buatlah larutan gula 20% = 20 gram gula pasir + 100 ml air
3. Siapkan 3 gelas yang sudah diberi label A, B, dan C
4. Gelas A = Diisi air 100 ml
Gelas B = Diisi larutan gula 10%
Gelas C = Diisi larutan gula 20%
5. Masukkan masing-masing kentang ke dalam ke 3 gelas. Biarkan/diamkan
selama 1 jam (60 menit).
6. Setelah 60 menit, angkatlah kentang tersebut satu persatu, lalu dilap pakai
tissue dan timbang kembali.
7. Hasilnya masukkan kedalam tabel pengamatan!

Proses osmosis berlangsung dari larutan yang memiliki
potensial air yang tinggi menuju larutan dengan potensial air rendah.
Potensail air adalah kemampuan air untuk berdifusi.
Pemahaman tentang transpor pasif (proses difusi, osmosis)
dapat membantu dalam hal mengatasi permasalah di bidang
pertanian. Contohnya, dalam menentukan dosis pupuk dan obat-
obatan yang aman untuk tanaman. Jika dosis terlalu pekat, maka
dapat menimbulkan plasmolisis yang dapat mematikan tanaman.
Transpor pasif juga memberikan pemahaman tentang macam
zat yang diberikan kepada tanaman sebagai nutrien hendaknya
berupa ion-ion yang mudah masuk ke dalam sel-sel tanaman.
Transpor aktif juga memberikan pemahaman tentang
munculnya penyakit silikosis dan rematik.
