SHELLA PRIMADITYA HAEDI, 6117059, 2020.
mengakibatkan peningkatan risiko fraktur.
Jompo Yayasan Annisa Ummul khairat Kota Batam Tahun 2020.
(p value < 0,05)
2020
ABSTRACT
SHELLA PRIMADITYA HAEDI, 6117059, 2020. Relationship between body mass index and
risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at the Yayasan Annisa Ummul khairat, Batam City
2020
Background: Osteoporosis is a disorder characterized by a decrease in bone mass density and a
disturbance in normal bone architecture that affects bone strength, resulting in an increased risk of
fracture. The occurrence of osteoporosis is influenced by many factors, one of which is the Body
Mass Index (BMI). This study aims to determine the relationship between body mass index and the
risk of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at the Annisa Ummul khairat Nursing Home, Batam
City 2020
Method: This research is an observational analytic study with cross sectional approach. The
number of samples of 65 mothers were taken using the Issac and Michael sampling technique. This
research was conducted by taking a questionnaire, data analysis using the chi-square test
Result: Data were analyzed by using chi-square test. The results of the analysis were found to have
a normal thin BMI (51%) and obese BMI (49%). The risk of osteoporosis was more dominant at
low risk (44.4%). Respondents with a normal-lean BMI had a low risk of osteoporosis, 8.7%;
medium risk 47.8% and high risk 43.5%. Respondents with obese BMI have a mild risk of 81.8%;
moderate risk 13.6%; and a high risk of 4.5%. The results of the chi-square test obtained p value
0,000 (p value <0.05)
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between body mass index and the risk of
osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at the Annisa Ummul Khairat Nursing Home, Batam City
2020
