Dinas Jaga
Tugas jaga berarti penjagaan dengan
-Cermat yaitu memberikan perhatian penuh dan
mengawasi dengan waspada atau menjaga kapal dengan
seksama
-Awas yaitu penjagaan dengan terus menerus dan
sangat hati hati karena suatu alasan atau tujuan yang
pasti terutama untuk menghindari bahaya
-waspada yaitu menekankan pada suatu keadaan sangat
siaga dan siap untuk bertindak
Maksud dan Tujuan Tugas Jaga
1. Menjaga keamanan keselamatan,ketertiban
muatan,kapal maupun penumpang
2. Melaksanakan ketentuan ketentuan yang
berlaku
3. melaksanakan perintahPerusahaan maupun
perintah Nakhoda
The rule of Watchkeeping for
Seafarer
Aturan pelaksanaan dinas jaga dikapal harus
berdasarkan pada STCW 1978 amandment 2010
Chapter VIII yang menyatakan tentang Standard
Regarding Watchkeeping for Seafarer.
FITNES (KEBUGARAN) UNTUK MENJALANKAN
TUGAS (Chapter VIII STCW 2010), State:
1. Petugas jaga harus mendapatkan istirahat yang cukup sebelum
melaksanakan dinas jaga.
2. Petugas jaga harus diberi waktu istirahat sedikitnya 10 jam setiap
periode 24 jam.
3. Periode istirahat boleh dibagi dalam 2 periode, dimana salah
satunya tidak boleh kurang dari 6 jam
4. Persyaratan periode istirahat tidak berlaku dalam situasi darurat
atau kondisi operasional mendesak.
5. Waktu istirahat 10 jam dapat dikurangi menjadi 6 jam berturut-turut
tetapi tidak boleh lebih dari 2 hari.
6. Selama 7 hari, paling sedikit waktu istirahat tidak boleh kurang dari
77 jam.
7. Pengurangan jam istirahat menjadi 70 jam dalam periode 7 hari
diperbolehkan untuk waktu yang tidak melampaui 2 minggu
berturut-turut.
8. Jadwal jaga ditempatkan ditempat-tempat yang mudah terlihat
dikapal.
PRINSIP-PRINSIP UMUM TUGAS JAGA
NAVIGASI (PRINCIPLE OF WATCH KEEPING IN
GENERALLY )
Tugas jaga navigasi di atur oleh
Nahkoda.
Di bawah pengawasan dan bimbingan
Nahkoda para perwira melaksanakan:
1. tugas jaga navigasi
2. bertanggung jawab atas keselamatan
kapal
SERTIFIKASI
1. Perwira yang melaksanakan tugas jaga navigasi atau tugas jaga deck, harus memenuhi
syarat sesuai dengan ketentuan yang berkaitan dengan jaga navigasi atau tugas jaga
deck STCW 1978.

Chapter IV Radiocommunication and radio Officer
Chapter V Special Training
Chapter VI Basic and proficiency Training
2. Perwira yang melasanakan jaga mesin harus memenuhi syarat sesuai dengan ketentuan
yang berkaitan dengan tugas jaga mesin.

STCW 1978 / Annex 2:
State the primary responsibility of the
OOW:
“ The Officer of the watch is the master’s
representative and his primary responsibility at
all time is the safe navigation of the ship.
He should at all the times comply with the
applicable regulation for preventing collision
at sea”

TAKING OVER THE WATCH
International Convention of Resolution,
States:
⦿ “The relieving officer of the watch should ensure that members of his watch are
fully capable of performing their duties, particularly as regards their adjustment to
night vision.
⦿ The relieving officer of the watch should not take over the watch until his vision is
fully adjusted to the light conditions and he has personally satisfied himself
regarding:

a. Standing orders and other special instruction of the Master relating to navigation
of the ship,
b. Position, course, speed and draught of the ship,
c. Prevailing and predicted tides, current, weather, visibility and the effect of these
factors upon course and speed,
d. Navigational situation, including but not limited to the following:
e. Operational condition of all navigational and safety equipment being used or likely
to be used during the watch,
f. Error of gyro and magnetic compass,
g. Presence and movement of ship in sight or known to be in the vicinity,
h. Conditions and hazards likely to be encountered during his watch,
i. Possible effect of heel, trim, water density and squat on the under keel clearance.
If at the time the officer of the watch is
to be relieved a manoeuvre or other
action to avoid any hazard is taking
placed, the relief of the officer should be
deferred until such action has been
completed
Condition must be satisfied by the OOW before taking over a
bridge watch
To read, understand and sign the Master’s standing order,
To check the ship position, course planned and the course being steered, by gyro
and magnetic compass,
To check the errors of the compasses,
To verify the speed and draught of the ship,
To observe prevailing weather and sea condition, visibility, sea-state and tide to
understand the operational state of all navigation equipment,
To be made aware of the presence and movement of all traffic in the vicinity,
To be informed of the conditions and hazards likely to be encountered during the
watch,
To be aware of the effects of heel, trim, water density and squat on the under keel
clearance,
To understand the state of internal ship systems, engine and cargo monitoring,
communications and crew availability,
To ensure that the required lookout and helmsman
