Sentence Types

• Simple Sentence
• Compound Sentence.
• Complex Sentence.
Simple Sentence Subject + Verb + Complement / Object

A simple sentence has one subject and one verb

Compound Sentence
A compound sentence has two or more simple sentences linked by
the conjunctions [and, or, but, yet, so, etc.]
Compound adalah kalimat yang terdiri dari dua kalimat sederhana (simple sentence)

Contoh:
• Mushoffa did not go to the Q-mall today for he was scared
of coronavirus.
• Iqbal likes cakes but Amin prefers bingka.

Complex Sentence
A complex sentence is made up of a simple sentence (an independent
clause) and one or more subordinate (dependant clauses)
Complex sentence merupakan kalimat yang terdiri dari dua klausa. Dua klausa
yang selalu ada independent clause (induk kalimat) dan dependent
clause (anak kalimat).
Complex sentence digabungkan dengan subordinate conjunction, seperti: before, after,
when, while, in order to, although, even though, whenever, wherever, even if, as if, etc
Contoh:
• Sukma will wait for her until she comes home.
• Whenever Bushiri feel hurt, he is going to cry.
