Konsep Dasar
A. PENGERTIAN
Cemas atau ansietas berasal dari kata “angustus” yang berarti kaku, dan “ango,
anci” yang berarti mencekik (Pratiwi, 2010). Kecemasan adalah sebuah respon emosional
dimana seseorang merasa takut pada suatu sumber ancaman yang belum jelas dan tidak
teridntifikasi (Solehati dan Kasosih, 2015). Kecemasan merupakan fungsi ego untuk
memperingati individu tentang adanya suatu bahaya sehingga dapat dipersiapkan reaksi
adaptif yang sesuai (Stuart, 2006).

Menurut Black & Davidson (dalam Safaria & Saputra, 2012), cemas adalah perasaan
takut baik berbentuk realistis maupun tidak realistis yang disertai peningkatan reaksi
kejiwaan. Sedangkan Spielberger (dalam Marhamah, 2018) mengatakan cemas adalah
sebuah reaksi emosional yang tidak menyenangkan terhadap suatu bahaya yang nyata.
Sedangkan menurut Vadebeck (2010), gangguan kecemasan adalah sekelompok kondisi
yang memberikan gambaran cemas berlebihan dan bisanya disertai dengan respon
perilaku, emosional dan fisiologis individu.
B. FAKTOR-FAKTOR
Menurut Sylvia D. Elvira (2008: 11) Ada
beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan kecemasan.
Antara lain faktor Organ Biologi dan Faktor
Psikoedukatif. Faktor organ biologi adalah
ketidakseimbangan zat kimia pada otak yang
disebut neurotransmitter yang disebabkan
karena kurangnya oksigen. Faktor psikoedukatif
adalah factor-faktor psikologi yang berpengaruh
terhadap perkembangan kepribadian seseorang,
baik hal yang menentramkan, menyenangkan
dan menyedihkan.
