A. Kompetensi Dasar

3.9 Menganalisis fungsi social, struktur teks dan unsur kebahasaan beberapa teks khusus
dalam bentuk ​memo​, ​menu​, ​schedul​e dan ​signs​ dengan memberi dan meminta informasi
terkait kegiatan sekolah atau tempat kerja sesuai dengan konteks penggunaanya di
dunia kerja

4.9 Menyusun teks khusus dalam bentuk ​memo, ​menu, jadwal dan tanda-tanda (​signs​)lisan
dan tulis, pendek dan sederhana dengan memperhatikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks dan
unsur kebahasaa secara benar dan sesuai konteks.

1. Baca dan pelajari informasi/penjelasan yang ada pada modul ini tentang ​memo​, ​menu​,
schedul​e dan ​signs.
2. Diskusikan dan kerjakan latihan secara mandiri atau berkelompok!

C. Materi

● The definition of memo​ ​ is a short message sent from one person to another
in the same organization.
M​emo ​ialah suatu tulisan singkat, jelas dan padat tentunya mudah dipahami yang
ditujukan kepada seseorang .
● The purpose of the memo is to inform something.
​
Tujuan​ memo ialah untuk memberikan informasi atau petunjuk kepada seseorang.
● There are two kinds of memo: formal (in an organization) and informal
(outside of organization).
Ada dua jnis memo yaitu memo yang bersifat resmi misalnya pesan dari
atasan kepada bawahan nya dan memo yang bersifat tidak resmi misalnya
pesan yang kita sampaiakan kepada teman atau ibu kita.
● There are three structures of memo: heading, content and closing.
Memo memiliki tiga bagian yaitu bagian atas/awal dalam sebuah memo
seperti tanggal dan pengirim, isi dan penutup

Example of informal memo:

My dear Rafif,
Don’t forget to take a rest and drink your medicine after lunch.
Your mommy

❖ Menu is list food and drink that can be ordered in a restaurant.

Menu adalah daftar makanan ataupun minuman yang bisa kita pasan di
restauran.​Menu berasal dari bahasa Prancis “Le Menu” yang berarti daftar
makanan
❖ The purpose is to attract customer and inform the value/price.
Tujuan dari sebuah menu adalah untuk manarik pelanggan dan menginformasikan
harga.

● Schedule is a list of activity, it can be a schedule of lessons, a shows, flights, train

and others. Schedule merupakan daftar rencana dari suatu kegiatan seperti daftar
pelajaran, pertunjukan, penerbanagan, kereta api dan lain nya.
● The purpose is to keep yourself in time, to manage your plan well, to make it easier
for us to do something properly. Tujuannya adalah untuk menjaga diri kita agar
dapat tepat waktu, merencanakan sesuatu dengan baik, untuk memudahkan kita
melakukan sesuatu lebih baik.

 Sign and symbol are instructions or prohibitions that are around us, usually
these signs are traffic signs. Sign dan simbol adalah perintah ataupun larangan
yang ada disekitar kita biasanya merupakan rambu-rambu lalu lintas.
The purpose is to instruct or prohibit something with picture.
Tujuan nya adalah untuk memerintah ataupun melarang suatu hal melalui
gambar.

Words and expressions to explains signs and symbols:

• That “P” sign means that you can park here.

• Symbol “Lady” means that toilet is for women.
• “No Smoking” means that you are not allowed to smoke in that area.
