Al-Qur'an supaya manusia menjauhinya.
Islam:
First, let's understand the definition of halal and haram itself. The term halal comes from the
Arabic language, namely حالل, which means 'to allow', 'to release' or 'to free'.
In this case, halal food means all types of food that are permitted by Islamic law to be
consumed, while unclean food is all types of food whose consumption is prohibited by
religion.
There are quite a lot of arguments for halal and haram food listed in the Al-Qur'an and the
hadith of the Prophet. For halal food itself, the command to consume it is contained in Surah
"O people, eat what is lawful and good from what is on earth, and do not follow the steps of
the devil, for in fact the devil is a real enemy to you." (QS. Al-Baqarah, [3]: 168).
In the verse above, the word halal is juxtaposed with thayyiban so that the term halalan
thayyiban appears. Reported by the IHATEC page, thayyiban means 'good'. 'Good' here
So, Allah SWT does not only order us to consume halal food, but halal thayyiban or 'halal
The concept of halal here is not just permissible according to religion. More than that, Dian
Eka Mayasari, et al in the book Sheffield Stories explains the concept of halal in Islamic
As for the argument about unclean food itself, there is a hadith in which the Messenger of
Allah mentions threats to people who eat unclean food. In his words, Rasulullah SAW said
which means,
"Any servant whose flesh grows from (food) unclean, hell is more suitable for him." (HR.
Tirmidhi).
We need to know, the law of origin of food and drink is halal. So, as long as there is no
prohibition stated in the hadith or the Qur'an, it is permissible for us to consume it.
Because of this original law, Allah SWT does not detail the matter of halal food for humans
to eat in the Qur'an, as well as the Prophet in his hadiths. However, that does not mean that
There are several types of halal food that are specifically listed in the Al-Qur'an and Hadith,
among others
3. Hunted animals
In contrast to halal, unclean food is explained in detail by Allah SWT in the Holy Qur'an so
that people stay away from it. One of the letters which is the main reference regarding
other than Allah, those who are suffocated, those who are beaten, those who fall, those that
are gored and eaten by wild animals, except those that you can slaughter." (QS. Al-Ma'idah,
[5]: 3).
Reported by Almanhaj, here are some types of food that are forbidden to consume according
to Islamic teachings:
3. Pork
6. Beasts with fangs, such as lions, tigers, dogs, wolves, monkeys, and bears
9. Al-Jalalah, namely animals with two and four legs whose main food is dirt
Answer. Because if we eat unclean food, we will get sins like we will sin if we eat pork, lion
meat, etc. Knowing what food is haram and halal is so that we know which foods we are
