Akhirnya
Bahurekso turun tangan sendiri.
THE ORIGIN OF BATANG CITY
Trunk comes from the word = Ngembat- Watang which means lifting a log. This is
taken from the heroic incident of Ki Ageng Bahurekso, who is considered the forerunner of
Batang. His history is described as follows:
It is said that when Mataram was preparing agricultural areas to supply rice for the
Mataram soldiers who were about to attack Batavia, Bahurekso was given the task of clearing
the Roban forest to become a rice field area. There are quite a few barriers to implementation.
Many loggers fell sick and died because they were said to have been harassed by the jinn, the
devil of the praying fairy, or the demons guarding the forest Roban, who was led by their
king Dadungawuk. But thanks to Bahurekso's magic,
The demon king was defeated and the disturbances ended, although on the
condition that the demons had to get a share of the harvest. Thus the western Roban forest
was cut down completely. The task now remains to work on irrigating the land that has been
cleared. However, the execution of the rest of the work did not escape from disturbances and
obstacles. The main disturbance was from the demon king Uling named Kolo Dribikso. the
fruit of the king of Uling. Knowing this, Bahurekso immediately intervened. The victim fell
on Uling's side. The red spurts of blood made the Kedung water turn blackish red “gowok. Jw
" , then the kedung is called Kedung Sigowok. King Uling was angry to see his men perish.
With his swedang sword drawn he attacked Bahureksa.
Because of the magic of the Swedang sword, Bahureksa can be defeated. The
strategy is immediately carried out. On the advice of his father, Ki Ageng Cempaluk.
Bahureksa was ordered to enter the Keputren of the Uling kingdom, to seduce the king's
sister named Dribusowati, a beautiful stealth princess. Bahureksa's seduction was successful.
Dribusawati wanted to steal her sister's heirloom sword, and handed it over to her. With
Swedang's sword in hand, King Uling was easily defeated, thus the disruption to the dam
would never occur again. But that doesn't mean the obstacles are gone again.
In fact, the water from the dam does not always flow smoothly. Sometimes it's big,
sometimes it's small, it doesn't even flow at all. After being investigated, it turned out that
there was a large wooden stick (watang) that was crossing the water flow. Dozens of people
were asked to lift and move the watang, but to no avail. Finally Bahurekso stepped in on his
own. After a moment of silence, concentrating his strength and magic, the big watang could
easily be lifted and in a moment the watang broke. Thus the ngembat watang incident
resulted in the name Batang from the word ngem Bat wa Tang (Batang). The Batang people
themselves according to their dialect call "Mbatang.
Looking at the descriptions of these oral sources or legends, we can estimate when
this happened. Mataram's preparations to attack Batavia were during the reign of Sultan
Agung Hanyokrokusumo, in 1613 to 1628. The first attack on Batavia was in 1628, take the
preparation as early as possible, namely the beginning of the reign of Sultan Agung, then it
happened in 1613.
dialeknya menyebutnya MBATANG.
According to a very popular legend, the stem comes from the word = Ngembat –
Watang which means lifting a log. It is said that at the time Mataram was preparing
agricultural areas to provide sufficient supplies of rice for the Mataram soldiers who were
about to carry out an attack on Batavia.
Tumenggung Bahurekso was assigned the task of opening the roban mat to be used
as a rice field, the roban base which is a forest that is still virgin, dense and scary inhabited by
Jin and demons. And Tumenggung Bahurekso was disturbed by the inhabitants of the roban
base. Many workers who cut down the forest of the roban base became sick and died, but
with his supernatural powers, the disturbance was resolved.
After Alas Roban was opened, Bahurekso's next task was to provide irrigation for
the land that had been cleared, then he built a dam which is now called the Kramat Dam.
Bahurekso to attack the Uling Demons based in a Kedung river, and with his magic these
demons can be defeated.
But even though these uling demons have been defeated, the water that comes out
of the dam is not always smooth, sometimes large and sometimes small, even not flowing at
all. After being examined, it turns out that there is a large wooden rod (watang) that crosses
and blocks the flow of water. Dozens of people were ordered to lift and move the Watang
(wooden trunk) but to no avail.
In the end, Bahurekso himself intervened, and in one fell swoop the Watang
(wooden trunk) was broken. and from the incident of ngembat watang, the name Batang is
engraved, which comes from the word ngembat, watang, the Batang people themselves
according to their dialect call it MBATANG.
