PERKEMBANGAN LOGISTIK
• Fase setelah perang dunia II, ilmu dan pengetahuan tentang logistik yang awalnya diterapkan dalam dunia militer,
mulai merambah masuk dan diterapkan di dalam dunia usaha dengan orientasi meraih lebih banyak konsumen.
• Pada tahun 1970an logistik menjadi bagian dalam perusahaan atau organisasi yang berfungsi sebagai penjamin
ketersediaan material dan barang untuk kelangsungan hidup perusahaan.
• Tahun 1980an fungsi logistik telah berubah orientasi menjadi sebuah aliran proses. Pada fase ini, dunia usaha
telah menjadikan logistik sebagai bagian penting dalam sistem. Sedangkan para pakar dan akademisi menjadikan
logistik sebagai ilmu baru yang pada akhirnya memunculkan konsep Supply Chain Management.
• Era 1990an untuk pertama kalinya konsep silang usaha logistik (seperti Just In Time) dan Supply Chain
Management didukung dengan kemutakhiran Teknologi Informasi.
• Abad 21 merupakan era persaingan global. Kerjasama usaha merupakan faktor kunci keberhasilan dalam
persaingan global, maka muncul Strategic Supply Chain Management. Strategi SCM yang tepat diyakini mampu
membuat perusahaan atau organisasi memenangkan persaingan
• Minimasi harga pokok produksi -> perusahaan yang memiliki core business pada sektor
tertentu diluar sektor supply chain umumnya tidak memiliki kualitas supply chain yang baik.
Seringkali, dalam penerapan supply chain pun akan menghabiskan waktu dan biaya yang
besar. Hal ini tentunya berdampak pada harga jual produk/jasa yang diberikan oleh
perusahaan.
• Mengurangi biaya investasi -> perusahaan perlu mengeluarkan investasi yang besar dalam
mengurusi segi supply chain seperti fasilitas, alat, sumber daya manusia, dan lainnya.
• Fleksibilitas operasional -> perusahaan yang menyewa jasa pihak ketiga memiliki
fleksibilitas yang tinggi.
