 Biografi MS Wawan
• MS Wawan adalah nama bekennya, terlahir bernama Mochamad Soewandi lahir di desa Ngaglik Sukun kota Malang (Jawa Timur)
pada tanggal 27 Agustus 1959, dari pasangan ayah bernama Achmad Djais dan ibu bernama Siti Soeriati
• Bakat melukis MS Wawan dipelajari secara Otodidak karena setelah lulus SMAN 1 Jetis Bumijo Jogjakarta meneruskan dan
mengenyam pendidikan seni lukis di ASRI Gampingan Jogja selama 2 semester.
• Yatim piatu semenjak kecil dan diasuh oleh kakaknya sampai lulus SMP, melanjutkan pendidikan SMA di Jogjakarta sambil berjualan
koran (mengasong) di Stasiun Tugu Jogja, untuk membiayai biaya kuliah … Wawan melukis sketsa di emperan jalan Malioboro
• Awal melukis dengan corak aliran Naturalisme menyeberang ke klasik modern, hingga bertemu dengan sosok Maestro Arie Smith
(kelahiran Belanda). Sempat Nyantrik dan menjadi muridnya selama 6 tahun di Segara Sanur Bali. Pada tahun 1981 – 1987, Wawan
melalang buana mengikuti jejak sang guru dan pada akhirnya berpisah di jalan Gajah Mada Singaraja Bali.
• Atas petunjuk dan yang diajarkan oleh sang Maestro Arie Smith, Wawan mendapatkan corak aliran yang sekarang digelutinya yakni
Pallete Expressionist hingga saat ini.
• MS Wawan adalah salah satu pelukis senior asuhannya dan murid kesayangan Arie Smith, tak pelak lagi dialah yang ikut
mempopulerkan aliran Pallet Ekspresionis di dunia dan sekarang mulai booming di Indonesia.
• Selama hampir 42 tahun MS Wawan menghabiskan waktunya untuk berkarya, dan sudah lebih kurang 27 negara yang pernah
disinggahi untuk berkarya dan pameran.
• Sebagai pelukis, MS Wawan berpindah pindah tempat dan akhirnya sejak tahun 2016 menetap di Jakarta hingga saat ini.
Pamerannya antara lain adalah Pameran Tunggal di Hotel Nikko Jakarta tahun 2003. Terakhir pameran di Gallery di Kemang tahun
2018.
• Dari tangan dinginnya telah diekspresikan dalam lukisan dan banyak dimiliki kalangan pejabat pemerintah dan pengusaha papan
atas Indonesia. Salah satunya taipan Agian, Franky Wijaya dan Eka Cipta Wijaya dari Sinar Mas Grup. Yusril Ihza Mahendra, M Nuh,
Agum Gumelar, Fadli Zon dan Fauzi Bowo.
• Terus berkarya hingga saat-saat terakhirnya, wafat pada tanggal 10 Juli 2021 di Depok Jawa Barat …..
• Meninggalkan angan-angan yang belum terwujud yaitu pendirian Gallery sendiri di daerah Depok
 MS Wawan’s biography
• MS Wawan is his famous name, birth name is Mochamad Soewandi in Ngaglik Sukun village, Malang city (East Java) on August 27,
1959, from a father named Achmad Djais and mother named Siti Soeriati
• MS Wawan's talent for painting was self-taught because after graduating from SMAN 1 Jetis Bumijo Jogjakarta, he continued and
studied painting at ASRI Gampingan Jogja for 2 semesters.
• Orphaned since childhood and raised by his older brother until he graduated from junior high school, continued his high school
education in Jogjakarta while selling newspapers (emptying) at Tugu Jogja Station, to pay for college fees … Wawan painted sketches
on the overhang of Malioboro street
• The beginning of painting with Naturalism flow patterns crossed into modern classics, until he met the figure of Maestro Arie Smith
(born in the Netherlands). Had an eccentric and became his student for 6 years at Segara Sanur Bali. In 1981 – 1987, Wawan wandered
around the world following in the footsteps of the teacher and in the end separated on Jalan Gajah Mada Singaraja Bali.
• On the instructions and taught by the Maestro Arie Smith, Wawan got the style of flow that he is currently working on, namely Pallete
Expressionist until now.
• MS Wawan was one of his senior painters and Arie Smith's favorite student, no doubt he was the one who helped popularize the
Expressionist Pallet genre in the world and is now starting to boom in Indonesia.
• For almost 42 years, MS Wawan has spent his time working, and he has visited approximately 27 countries for works and exhibitions.
• As a painter, MS Wawan moved from place to place and finally since 2016 he has settled in Jakarta until now. Among his exhibitions
were the Solo Exhibition at the Nikko Hotel Jakarta in 2003. The last exhibition was at the Gallery in Kemang in 2018.
• From his cold hands, it has been expressed in paintings and is widely owned by Indonesian government officials and top businessmen.
One of them is the tycoons Agian, Franky Wijaya and Eka Cipta Wijaya from the Sinar Mas Group. Yusril Ihza Mahendra, M Nuh, Agum
Gumelar, Fadli Zon and Fauzi Bowo.
• Continued to paint until his last moments, died on July 10, 2021 in Depok, West Java.
• Leaving unrealized dreams of building his own painting gallery in the Depok area.
