• Extra Joss dikenal informan sebagai minuman energi yang paling pertama muncul.
Extra Joss terdiri dari berbagai jenis bentuk dan kemasan.
• Minuman energi bagi informan dimaknai sebagai minuman yang mempunyai
berbagai macam kegunaan antara lain :
 dapat mengurangi rasa kantuk
 menjaga stamina
 membuat semangat
 mengurangi rasa lelah
 menambah gizi
 membuat tubuh segar, kuat, dan sehat.
• beberapa informan juga menyatakan bahwa minuman energi memiliki dampak
buruk jika dikonsumsi. Minuman energi dipandang sebagai minuman yang
mengandung zat berbahaya (bahan pengawet) dan memiliki efek samping antara
lain :
 Jantung berdebar-debar
 sulit buang air kecil jika dicampur dengan susu dan telah terkena sinar
matahari.

Kafein berfungsi sebagai stimulan atau
perangsang susunan saraf pusat. Vitamin
B dan taurin berfungsi sebagai koenzim
yang membantu metabolisme energi di
dalam tubuh.

Kombinasi antara kafein dan taurin
dalam minuman berenergi akan
merangsang sistem saraf pusat untuk
memicu reaksi katabolisme (reaksi
untuk menghasilkan energi) di otot.
