LATAR BELAKANG
Elemen pembentuk ruang kota menurut Shirvani (1985) antara lain tata guna lahan (Land Use),
bentuk dan massa bangunan (Building Form and Massing), sirkulasi dan parkir (Circulation
and Parking), ruang terbuka (Open Space), jalur pedestrian (Pedestrian Ways), penanda
(Signages), kegiatan pendukung (Activity Support), konservasi (Conservation).

Menurut Shirvani (1985), ruang terbuka publik kota adalah semua kenampakkan lansekap,
hardscape (jalan, trotoar dan sebagainya), taman dan ruang rekreasi di kota.

Ruang terbuka publik seharusnya dapat dinikmati semua orang tanpa batasan sebagai tempat
berinteraksi bagi komunitas perkotaan.

Taman Lunggi merupakan salah satu contoh ruang terbuka yang belum banyak dikunjungi oleh masyarakat.
Kabupaten Sambas merupakan bagian dari provinsi Kalimantan Barat, dimana seharusnya taman menjadi
salah satu pusat aktivitas sosial bagi masyarakat di dalamnya.

Salah satu indikasi keberhasilan ruang publik adalah banyak dikunjungi masyarakat. Untuk itu, sebuah ruang
terbuka publik harus dirancang dengan mempertimbangkan elemen pembentuk ruang kota agar dapat menarik
banyak pengunjung

TUJUAN PENELITIAN
Elemen pembentuk ruang terbuka publik apa saja
yang ada di kawasan Taman Lunggi ?
Tujuan dari penelitian ini, yang ingin dicapai
yaitu untuk megidentifikasi lebih jauh
elemen ruang terbuka publik yang ada di
kawasan Taman Lunggi kabupaten Sambas.
Bagaimana peran tatanan elemen pembentuk
ruang terbuka publik dan penggunaannya bagi
masyarakat di Taman Lunggi ?

Berdasarkan tujuan penelitian yang hendak dicapai, maka penelitian ini diharapkan mempunyai manfaat
dalam pendidikan baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Adapun manfaat penelitian ini adalah
sebagai berikut :

ruang terbuka publik. Lokasi penelitian berada pada kawasan
ruang terbuka yang terdapat pada Taman Lunggi Kabupaten
Sambas.

PENGERTIAN FUNGSI
Menurut Hamid Shirvani ruang terbuka Menurut Peraturan Menteri Pekerjaan Umum Nomor:
merupakan elemen yang sangat esensial 05/PRT/M/2008, ruang terbuka publik mempunyai fungsi
dalam perancangan kota demi utama dan fungsi tambahan yaitu terdapat fungsi sosial
tercapainya kenyamanan bagi pengguna dan budaya, fungsi ekonomi dan fungsi estetika
ruang.

Pada kawasan Taman Lunggi Sambas bisa dikatakan bahwa kawasan tersebut belum
sepenuhnya menerapkan prinsip-prinsip perancangan kota yang dikemukakan ahli
perancangan kota Hamid Shirvani. Hal ini disebabkan oleh prinsip awal kawasan ini
yang di kembangkan untuk area perkantoran dan pemukiman namun seiring
berkembangnya zaman dan semakin berkembangnya roda perekonomian maka kawasan
ini dikembangkan lagi dengan penyediaan kawasan taman serta komersil yang pada
perkembangan selanjutnya diharapkan menerapkan kajian elemen pembetuk ruang
terbuka publik. Dengan Adanya Kawasan Taman Lunggi dapat membantuk masyarakat
sekitar mengembangkan area komersil serta tempat berkumpulnya dan rekreasi
masyarakat Sambas.
