6.2 Mengungkapkan makna dan langkah retorika dalam esei dengan menggunakan
ragam bahasa tulis secara akurat, lancar dan berterima dalam konteks kehidupan
sehari-hari dalam teks berbentuk: narrative.
6. Materi Pokok
1. The past perfect tense expresses an activity that was completed before another
activity happened in the past.
Example :
a. My parents had already eaten by the time I got home.
b. Until yesterday, I had never heard about it.
c. The thief simply walked in. Someone had forgotten to lock the door.
2. If either” before” or “ after “ is used in the sentences, simple past tense may be used.
Example :
a. Father had already locked the door before Jack went home last night.
b. Sam had left before we got there.
c. After the guest had left, I went to bed
3. If either ” before “ or “ after” is used in the sentence, The Past Perfect is often not
necessary because the time relationship is already clear.
Example :
a. After the guests left, I went to bed.
b. Sam left before we got there.
