CONGRATULATING AND COMPLIMENTING
(mengucapkan selamat dan memuji)

Congratulating
Congratulating (Congratulation) adalah memberi ucapan selamat kepada orang lain atas prestasi
dan kebahagiaan yang diraih. Contohnya: Juara lomba di sekolah, di luar sekolah, kelulusan,
pindah rumah, kenaikan jabatan(promotion), mendapatkan momongan/bayi, pernikahan, dan
lain-lain.
Social function of congratulation someone (Fungsi sosial mengucapkan selamat pada
seseorang)
- To develop interaction and communication with others (Mengembangkan interaksi dan
komunikasi dengan orang lain)
- To express our happiness or positive feeling about one’s success, and it also to maintain good
relationships among friends, classmates, fellow workers, colleagues (Untuk mengekspresikan
kebahagaian dan perasaan positif kita tentang kesuksesan seseorang, dan juga meningkatkan
hubungan baik diantara teman-teman, teman sekelas, teman kerja dan rekan kerja)
- To respond to someone's achievement or success (Merespon penghargaan atau kesuksesan
seseorang)

Complimenting
Compliment is an expression to appreciate or praise other people. Compliment is useful to give
encouragement so that people will keep on doing their best and even improve their performance
(Compliment adalah sebuat ungkapan untuk mengapresiasi atau memuji orang lain. Pujian atau
apresiasi sangat penting untuk memberikan semangat kepada orang lain sehingga mereka akan
tetap konsisten mempertahankan prestasi dan meningkatkan kemampuannya.)
Social function of Giving Compliment (Fungsi sosial memberi pujian)
- To improve relationship between people. (meningkatkan hubungan antar manusia)
- To give compliment or encouragement.(memberi pujian dan semangat)
When to express compliment: (kapan mengekspresikan pujian)
- On daily basis, (sehari-hari)
- When someone has done his/her best, (Ketika seseorang telah melakukan yang terbaik)
- When you visit someone’s house for the first time, (Ketika anda mengunjungi rumah
seseorang kali pertama).
- If you notice(MEMPERHATIKAN) something new about someone’s
appearance(PENAMPILAN). (Jika anda melihat sesuatu yang baru dari penampilan
seseorang
