Abstrak
Abstract
The purpose of this research are 1) to know the steps of applying technique 5W +
1H through critical reading in the learning process to comprehend the intrinsic unsure of
short story, 2) to know the progression of comprehend ability about intrinsic unsure of
short story in class VII C SMP N 3 Singaraja after applying technique 5W + 1H through
critical reading, 3) to know the students’ respond about the applying of technique 5W+1H
through critical reading in the learning process to comprehend the intrinsic unsure of short
story. This research was designed as Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (classroom action
research). The subjects of this research are teacher and students of SMP N 3 Singaraja,
especially the students in class VII C. This research was done by some methods, such as
observation, test and questioner. In observation method, data was analyzed by
descriptive qualitative. In test method, data was analyzed by descriptive quantitative and
in questionnaire method, data was analyzed by descriptive qualitative and quantitative.
By the procedures above was got the result of this research as follow. 1) the effective
learning steps are a) pay attention to learning situation, b) giving material and intrinsic
unsure about short story, c) giving the example of short story that students knows, d)
making group, e) clarifying the answer of each group, f) giving test, g) publishing
individual score development, h) concluding and closing the learning process. 2) Has
occurred the progression of students mean score after applying technique 5W+1H
through critical reading by compare it with previous lesson. Before the research (first
reflection), students mean score is 68,88 (enough). On the first stage, the students mean
score are develop into 70,14 (good) and in second stage develop into 78,55 (excellent),
3) the students’ respond is positive in comprehending the intrinsic unsure of short story in
using techniques 5W+1H through critical reading.
