Abstract
Third World Health Organization (WHO) data reports that globally, there are
149.2 million children younger than 5 years of age experiencing developmental
disorders in 2020. The prevalence of developmental deviations in children under 5
years of age in Indonesia is reported by WHO in 2018 was 7,512.6 per 100,000
population (7.51%). Fine motor development is strongly influenced by stimulation and
the role of parents in educating and nurturing their children. The purpose of this study
was to determine the effect of paper folding/origami games on the fine motor
development of children in Kemala Bhayangkari Kindergarten, North Bengkulu
Regency. The design of this study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-
equivalent control group design. The sample of this study consisted of 30 people
consisting of 15 people in the intervention group and 15 people in the control group
using purposive sampling technique. Bivariate univariate analysis method with T test
dependent and independent, multivariate using ancova. The results of the analysis
showed that there was an effect of paper folding/origami games on the fine motor
development of preschool children aged 4-5 years in Kemala Bhayangkari
Kindergarten, North Bengkulu Regency, seen from the statistical test results showing an
increase in fine motor skills after being given an intervention in the intervention group
and the control group with an average difference an average of 0.933 with a p-value =
0.008 <0.05. It is hoped that stimulation with paper folding/origami games can be used
as an effort to improve children's fine motor development.
