3. Program Remedial
Pembelajaran remedial merupakan tindakan perbaikan pembelajaran yang
diberikan kepada peserta didik yang belum mencapai KKM (75) dengan cara :
1) Guru menganalisis kesalahan peserta didik dalam mengerjakan soal
2) Guru memberikan pembelajaran ulang dengan metode dan media yang
berbeda
3) Guru membimbing perorangan jika peserta didik yang belum tuntas ≤20%
4) Guru memberikan tugas atau latihan khusus yang sesuai dengan
kemampuan belajarnya secara berkelompok dibimbing oleh guru, jika peserta
didik yang belum tuntas antara 20% sampai 60%
5) Guru mengadakan remedial teaching yakni mengulang materi yang di ajarkan
secara ringkas dan dibantu oleh siswa yang sudah lulus KKM, jika peserta
didik yang belum tuntas ≥60%
1. Program Pengayaan
Program pembelajaran pengayaan diberikan bagi siswa yang sudah lulus KKM
dengan cara
1) Guru memberi beberapa soal yang bersifat HOTS kemudian membimbing
langsung peserta didik. Jika peserta didik yang tuntas <50%
2) Guru meminta peserta didik untuk menganalisis soal – soal atau materi –
materi teks deskriptif, Jika peserta didik yang tuntas ≥50%.

1. MATERI PEMBELAJARAN
Descriptive Text
a. Definition

According to Alawi (2001: 1) has similar opinion about descriptive text. He adds that
“descriptive is the text picturing the person, place and thing with clear detail to help the
readers look an object which is described”.

Descriptive text is a text that gives information about particular person, place, or thing.
Gerot et al in Mursyid states that descriptive text is a kind of text with a purpose to give
information. The context of this kind of text is the description of particular thing, animal,
person, or others.”

b. Social Function
 To give information about a particular entity by describing its
features, history, and special characteristics.
 To give information about things by describing physical attributes,
behaviors, uses,etc.

c. Generic structure
According to Gerot and Wignell (1994: 208) add that there are two generic
structures of descriptive text; namely, identification and description. In identification,
the learners will identify phenomenon or subject that is going to be described. While,
description, the learners will describe specifically parts, qualities, and characteristics of
an object that is being described.
The generic structure of descriptive text consists of identification and
description.
a). Identification is about introducing subject or thing that will be described,
whereas,
b). description is brief details about who, or what of the subject.

d. Language Features

Related to its linguistic features, Gerot and Wignell (1994), Emilia and Christie
(2013), Knapp and Watkins (2005), Derewianka (1990) and Nafisah and Kurniawan

(2007), state that a descriptive text employs the following linguistic features:
a. Focus on specific participants as the main character;
b. Use present tense as dominant tenses;
c. Use linking verbs or relational process frequently (is, are, has, have, belongs to) in
order to classify and describe appearance or qualities and parts or functions of
phenomena);
d. Use action verbs or material process and behavioural process in giving additional
description regarding action and behaviour done by the participants in text;
e. Use mental verb or mental process when describing feelings;
f. Use nominal group frequently to describe;
g. Use adjective and adverbs to add information to nouns and add information to verbs
to provide more detailed description about the topic;
h. Use adverbial phrases to add more information about manner, place, or time and
sometimes realized in embedded clause which functions as circumstances. There
are some language features in descriptive text. They are:
 Using adjective. For example: big, dark brown,happy.
 Using simple present tense. For example: I love my cat.
 Using action verb. For example: put, think,made.
 Using noun phrase. For example : favorite doll, mybed.
 Using general. For example : the vegetables, the animals.

2. Descriptive words & phrases

Descriptive words atau kata deskriptif untuk menjelaskan tentang seseorang. Descriptive
words juga bisa berupa adjective atau kata sifat. Berikut ini adalah beberapa contoh
descriptive words/phrases yang berhubungan tentang ciri fisik seseorang.

3. Personality/characteristics

Dalam mendeskripsikan seseorang, seringkali kita juga menggambarkan kepribadian atau


karakteristiknya. Tiap-tiap orang memiliki ragam sifat yang tidak hanya positif namun juga
ada yang negatif.

Di bawah ini adalah beberapa contoh kepribadian/karakteristik seseorang dari yang baik
serta yang buruk.

B. Simple Present Tense

adalah bentuk keterangan waktu yang menyatakan suatu kejadian yang berlangsung di masa
sekarang.

Kalimat simple present tense terdiri dari dua jenis yaitu nominal sentence dan verbal sentence.
Nominal sentence menggunakan ‘to be’ atau ‘be’.

e. The example of Descriptive Text (person)

My ather
My father is Mr. Marzuki. He is 42 years old this year. His height is 175 cm and his
weighs about 75 kg. He is very warm, smart, dan funny person. I live with him in
Munjungan, Trenggalek. (Identification)

My father is quite handsome man. He has well-built body because he always does
exercise every day. He is also tall. He has short black hair and black eyes. He has an oval
face and pointed chin. He has slight moustaches and beard. He has slight dark brown skin.
My father is a junior high school teacher. He teaches sports. He always goes to school in early
morning and comes home in the afternoon around 03.00 pm. He works hard for his family. We
all love him so much. He is the best father in the world to me. (Description)

My Mother
I have a very beautiful mother. Her name is Mrs. Bunga. She is 40 years old this
year. She teaches in a high school in Surabaya. Her height is 165 cm and she weighs about 55
kg. She has a black and shiny curly hair. She also has a pointed nose and dimples that makes
her more beautiful when smiling. Her eyes are brown like my eyes. My mother has a light brown
skin color like most women in Indonesia. Her red lips and white teeth combine to form a beautiful
smile. My mom is neither fat nor skinny. I think her body is pretty proportional.
She is a very nice, friendly, and patient woman. My mom loves her family so
much. She is the best mother in the world. She plays her role as a mother greatly. She never
forgets her responsibilities as a mother. Although she is very busy at work, she never forgets her
family. My mom really loves cleanliness. She always keeps her home clean and healthy. Apart
from being a good mom, she is the greatest cook ever exists. She is very talented in cooking. I
love her cook, especially her fried chicken.
My mom is also kind. She loves to help friends and neighbors who are in
trouble.My mom always takes pity on people who need help. Moreover, my mother is a devoted
person. She is very diligent in praying and always reminds us to conduct prayer. There are still a
lot of things that I could say about my mother because I think my mother is a perfect mom for
myself and my family. I wish I could find a wife like her for my future children.

My favorite teacher

I have a great English teacher. Her name is Mrs. Shinta. She is 28 years
old this year. She teaches in a our school, high school in Jakarta. Her height is 168
cm and she weighs about 60 kg. She is my favorite teacher. Mrs. Shinta studied in
America and returned to Indonesia to be an English teacher.
She has sparkle eyes and blonde hair. She is just a bit taller than I am. She
always smiles to us as we bump into each other in the hallway at school. She seemed
very strict the first time I met her. However, we always have a lot of fun during her
classes with her English jokes. She is skillful at teaching, friendly, patient, easygoing
and has great sense of humor. During my study, Mrs. Shinta always inspires her
students. Whenever we are bored by the lesson, she sometimes tells jokes that makes
all of the students laugh. Her jokes always excite us. I hope that she will continue
teaching us until graduation.

Victoria Caroline Beckham is an English singer-songwriter, dancer, model,
actress, fashion designer and business woman. She was born on April 17, 1974, in Essex,
England. She became famous in the 1990’s with the pop group “The Spice Girl”and was
known as Posh Spice. In 1999, she married the Manchester United and England
footballer, David Beckham. They have four children, three sons and a daughter.

After The Spice Girl split up, she pursued a solo singer career, but also started her
own fashion range called dVb Style. Since this initial foray into fashion Victoria Beckham
has brought out her own range of sunglasses and fragrance, entitled “Intimately
Beckham”and a range of handbags and jewelry.
