Menurut Wikipedia, yang dimaksud dengan Descriptive
text adalah: satu kaedah upaya pengolahan data
menjadi sesuatu yang dapat diutarakan secara jelas
dan tepat dengan tujuan agar dapat dimengerti oleh
orang yang tidak langsung mengalaminya sendiri.

Jadi yang dimaksud dengan descriptive text adalah


sebuah tulisan atau teks yang menggambarkan sifat-
sifat yang melekat pada sesuatu, baik itu manusia,
hewan, tumbuhan, ataupun benda mati seperti rumah,
mobil dan lain sebagainya.

kebiasaan dan lain-lain.
Kepribadian dan Penampilan

A: Tell me about your father. What kind of person is he? (Ceritakan


padaku tentang ayah kamu. Dia orangnya seperti apa?)
B: Well, he is very friendly, smart and funny. (Baiklah, ayahku itu sangat
ramah, cerdas, dan menyenangkan).

A: What does he look like? (Bagaimana penampilannya?)


B: Hes young, short and handsome. He has straight black hair dan green
eyes. (Dia masih muda, agak pendek dan tampan. Rambutnya hitam lurus
dan matanya berwarna hijau).

A: What does your mother look like? (Bagaimana penampilan ibu


kamu?)
B: Shes tall, thin and beautiful. She has blonde hair and wear glasses. (Dia
itu tinggi, kurus dan cantik. Rambutnya pirang dan memakai kacamata).

A: How about your little sister? (Bagaimana dengan adik perempuan


kami?)
B: She has curly red hair and a cute smile. Everybody likes her. (Rambutnya
merah keriting dan senyumannya sangat manis. Setiap orang
menyukainya).

A: What is your brother wearing? (Pakaian apa yang dikenakan


saudara lelakimu?)
B: Hes wearing light brown pants and an orange t-shirt. (Dia
mengenakan celana panjang berwarna coklat terang dan kaos
oranye).

A: What kind of shoes does he have (on)? (Sepatu bagaimana


yang dipakainya?)
B: Sneakers, and hes wearing white socks. (Sepatu karet, dan dia
memakai kaos kaki putih).

A: Is Anty wearing a dress? (Apakah anti mengenakan gaun?)


B: No. Shes wearing a blue skirt and a yellow blouse. (Tidak, dia
memakai rok biru dan blus warna kuning).

A: Anything else? (Ada lagi informasi tambahan?)


B: Yes. Shes wearing boots and carrying a purse. (Ya, dia
mengenakan sepatu boot dan membawa sebuah dompet).
Ungkapan-ungkapan yang digunakan adalah:

1. Untuk menanyakan penampakan fisik (Physical Appearance)


How does she look like? arti = Seperti apa kah dia?

2. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan penampakan fisik (Physical Appearance)

She is [tall/ short/ fat/ slim/ thin]. arti = Dia itu [tinggi/ pendek/ gemuk/
langsing/ kurus].
She has got [short/ long] [stright/ wavy/ curly] hair. arti = Dia memiliki
rambut yang [lurus/ bergelombang/ ikal] [pendek/ panjang].
She has got [oval/ round/ square] face. arti = Dia memiliki wajah yang
[oval/ bundar/ kotak].
She has got a [pointed/ flat] nose. arti = Dia memiliki hidung yang
[mancung/ pesek].
She has got [thick/ thin] lips. arti = Dia memiliki bibir yang [tebal/ tipis].
She has got [white/ brown] skin. arti = Dia memiliki kulit yang [putih/
coklat].
She has got [big/ slanting/ small] [black/ brown] eyes. arti = Dia
memiliki mata [hitam/ coklat] yang [besar/ sipit/ kecil]

4. Menjawab pertanyaan sifat/ sikap


Untuk menjawab pertanyaan mengenai sifat/
sikap, kita hanya menambahkan adjective
(kata sifat) saja. Misalnya:

She is [smart/ kind/ beautiful/ honest/


patient/ talktive/ etc.]. arti = Dia itu
[cerdas/ baik/ cantik/ jujur/ sabar/
cerewet/ dll.].

Example :
How to make an omelette

We need at least 4 eggs per omelette.


First, break the eggs carefully into a bowl and season
with salt and freshly milled pepper.
Then beat them with fork. After this, heat the oil, not

Then pour the eggs into the hot pan. Carefully tap the
pan so that the cooked omelette moves and slightly

bahasa inggris persuade, dimana biasanya
seseorang mengingkinkan kita melakukan atau
