PENINGKAT DAYA SIMAK

 Pengantar meningkatkan daya simak

Salah satu tujuan pengajaran bahasa ialah agar para siswa terampil berbahasa: terampil
berbicara, terampil membaca, dan terampil menulis. Oleh karena itu, maka dari setiap guru
bahasa diharapkan timbulnya upaya demi peningkatan keterampilan berbahasa anak
didiknya. Dalam bab ini kita akan membincangkan beberapa hal yang ada kaitannya dengan
peningkatan daya simak, antara lain:
a) aneka pengalaman audio pemertinggi kemampuan menyimak
b) aneka kegiatan peningkat daya simak
 Aneka Pengalaman Audio Pemertinggi Kemampuan Menyimak
Diantara pengalaman-pengalaman serta kegiatan-kegiatan
yang akan turut mempertinggi daya simak para siswa adalah:

a) Meyimak pada guru apabila dia:
b) Menyimak pada para siswa lainnya memberi petunjuk-
petunjuk, mengemukakan pertanyaan-pertanyaan,
memberikan rangkuman-rangkuman, menceritakan aneka
kejadian atau insiden (misalnya: apa yang mereka lihat atau
apa yang terjadi dalam perjalanan mereka menuju sekolah).
c) Turut serta mengambil bagian atau peranan dalam suatu
dramatisasi atau dialog tertentu.
d) Menyimak pada para pembicara yang diundang dari luar atau
pada personalia sekolah lain.
e) Menyimak pada rekaman-rekaman fonograf pelajaran-
pelajaran yang sama berulang-ulang sehingga mereka
mendapat isi keseluruhan, dapat mendahului atau
“menambah” apa kira-kira yang ingin mereka dengarkan.
f) Menyimak pada rekaman-rekaman fonograf pelajaran-
pelajaran yang sama berulang-ulang (termasuk rekaman-
rekaman nyanyian, drama, puisi, pidato).
g) Meyimak pada film-film bicara beberapa kali – ini terutama
sekali disiapkan pada para pelajar bahasa – dan acara-acara
radio dan televisi yang terpilih.
h) Ikut serta dalam percakapan-percakapan melalui telepon.
i) Mewawancarai, mengadakan tanya jawab dengan orang-orang
tertentu.
j) Menghadiri kuliah, ceramah, konferensi, dan pertemuan-
pertemuan perkumpulan bahasa asing.
k) Turut berpartisipasi dalam suatu kegiatan spontan, yang tidak
dipersiapkan terlebih dahulu, yang memaksa mereka menyimak
secara atentif untuk membuat suatu reaksi yang tepat terhadap
suatu pernyataan atau pertanyaan yang diajukan oleh pasangan
mereka.
l) Turut berpartisipasi dalam kelompok-kelompok diskusi atau
diskusi panel.
m) Pergi menonton dalam permainan-permainan bahasa
 Aneka Kegiatan Peningkat Daya
Simak
Para guru yang arif bijaksana yang telah berpengalaman
bertahun-tahun dimuka kelas dengan mudah dapat
menemukan beraneka ragam kegiatan yang akan turut
meningkatkan kegiatan menyimak (yang tajam dan mendalam)
para anak didik mereka. Berikut ini kita kemukakan sejumlah
saran. Beberapa dari situasi tersebut mungkin dapat
dimanfaatkan dalam bentuk yang disajikan disini, sedangkan
yang lain-lainnya mungkin perlu mengalami variasi-variasi
sesuai dengan situasi dan kondisi setempat.
Pembicaraan kita disini terbatas pada kegiatan-kegiatan
peningkatan daya menyimak konversasif, apresiasif,
eksplorasif, dan kosentratif saja.
 A. Menyimak Konversasif
a. Menyiagakan, menyuruh anak-anak bersiap-siap bagi
keperluan perbaikan serta peningkatan dengan jalan
mendiskusikan tanda-tanda atau ciri-ciri kurangnya
perhatian para penyimak yang telah diperhatikan oleh
para siswa pembicara dari waktu ke waktu, dari masa ke
masa.
b) Mengadakan norma-norma atau standar-standar bagi
menyimak yang sopan santun dan untuk menjadikan
seorang konversasionalis yang pandai dan lincah
bercakap atau berbicara degan menarik, terlebih-lebih
dalam diskusi.
c) Membuat rekaman percakapan kelas serta menerapkan
norma-norma yang telah ditetapkan itu.
d) Membuat suatu daftar norma-norma bagi menyimak
sopan santun yang tumbuh secara berangsur-angsur.
e) Mengevaluasi percakapan-percakapan kelas
berdasarkan daftar norma menyimak sopan santun
diatas.
f) Mendorong para siswa untuk mengevaluasi diri sendiri
dengan mempergunakan daftar norma diatas.
g) Dan akhirnya, memberi kesempatan kepada wakil-wakil
kelas untuk mengadakan evaluasi atas kegiatan
menyimak berdasarkan norma-norma yang telah
ditetapkan itu.
 B.Menyimak
Apresiasif
Dalam kegiatan menyimak apresiasif ini haruslah dipertimbangkan dua aspek yang berbeda,yaitu:
I. Keresponsifan, dan
II. Pengolahan serta pengembangan cita rasa.
Dan perlu pula kita sadari bahwa meyimak kreatif pun terlibat pula dalam sejumlah kegiatan yang didaftarkan di sini. Membaca nyaring atau
membaca bersuara sering kali merupakan latar belakang bagi menyimak responsif atau menyimak apresiasif, apabila para penyimak;

● Membuat sketsa atau bagan suatu kartun asli seorang tokoh atau situasi yang dilukiskan dalam suatu cerita.
● Mempantomimkan, memainkan boneka atau wayang, atau mendramatisasikan secara spontan sebagai suatu responsi terhadap suatu
cerita yang baru saja disimaknya.
● Secara individual menceritakan atau menulis suatu kesimpulan akhir yang original bagi suatu cerita yang berkualitas tinggi; dan
● Membuat latar belakang suara/bunyi-bunyian dengan ritme instrumen-instrumen orkes pada saat guru membacakan suatu puisi atau
cerita yang melukiskan berbagai jenis suara atau kecepatan gerakan; misalnya pada saat sang tokoh berjalan-jalan, berjalan cepat,
tersandung, berlari dengan lompatan, berhenti sebentar dan berjalan lagi pelan-pelan, membalap, mengebut, dan meloncat
menyelamatkan diri dari bahaya maut.
C. Menyimak
Eksplorasif Peningkatan serta kemajuan dalam bidang menyimak
eksplorasif atau menyimak penjelajahan ini dapat
timbul dari kegiatan-kegiatan yang kita terangkan
berikut ini:
• a) Dalam memperluas dan mendalami makna-makna kata, para siswa dapat
menyimak pada kata-kata tertentu yang telah didaftarkan di papan tulis sebelum menyimak
suatu bacaan pilihan. Mereka akan memahami makna dengan memperhatikan konteks
pemakaian kata-kata tersebut.
• b) Setelah menyimak pada seperangkat petunjuk hanya sekali saja, para siswa akan
mengadakan suatu eksperimen sederhana melaksanakan beberapa usaha dalam keahlian
atau konstruksi.
• c) Setelah menyimak, para siswa menuliskan petunjuk-petunjuk, misalnya bagi
penyelamatan diri di pantai atau bagi pemain sepak bola.
• d) Atau mereka penyimak informasi baru mengenai suatu topik yang sebagian telah
pernah dipelajari.
 D. Menyimak
Konsentratif
Dalam pembicaraan di atas pun sebenarnya kita telah
menyinggung-nyinggung kegiatan menyimak konsentratif.
Bentuk lain dari menyimak konsentratif yang menuntut para
siswa untuk memperhatikan urutan ide-ide, adalah sebagai
berikut ini:

i. Permainan sederhana yang mengikutsertakan anak-

anak mengulangi apa-apa yang telah dikatakan dalam
pernyataan-pernyataan kumulatif para siswa
terdahulu, contoh:

ii. Tugas kedua yang menarik adalah berpantomimkan

suatu cerita (yang terdiri atas tiga atau empat adegan)
yang telah disajikan secara lisan.

iii. Suatu tugas alternatif adalah penceritaan kembali

cerita tersebut dalam urutan yang wajar.

iv. Alternatif lain adalah membuat gambar-gambar yang

sesuai dengan adegan-adegan cerita tersebut.
