ABSTRACT
Background: Hypertension is the death cause number three in Indonesia after stroke and
tuberculosis in 6,8% level. Hypertension is affected by some factors such as age, sex, education
level, physical activities, genetic (heredity), food, smoking habit, consuming alcohol, and stress..
Objective: This research is supposed to knowing the risk factors of hypertension in Puskesmas
Baturraden 2. This research is using observational method. Respondents in this study are the
hypertension sufferers in Puskesmas Baturraden 2 and using total sampling from 69 respondents.
The data analysing is using chi square and spearman rank..
Result: The result of this study is showing that there is relation between the duration and frequency
of smoking, and the type of cigarettes with hypertension (p value 0,029; 0,002; and 0,012). There is
no relation between consuming alcohol and hypertension (p value 0,551). There is no relation
between stress level and hypertension (p value 0,427)..
