melakukan suatu tindakan/kegiatan, sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya
dengan memperhatikan unsur kebahasaan be going to dan would like to
sehingga peserta didik dapat menghayati dan mengamalkan ajaran agama yang
dianutnya, mengembangkan sikap jujur, peduli dan bertanggungjawab, serta
dapat mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, komunikasi, kolaborasi,
kreativitas (tuntutan abad 21:C4)

PETUNJUK UMUM PENGGUNAAN UKBM

Baca dan pahami BTP (Buku Teks Pembelajaran) Bahasa Inggris Kelas X,
Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, Edisi Revisi, Tahun 2017, lihat
halaman 38 sampai dengan 49.
Setelah memahami isi materi, berlatihlah memperluas pengalaman belajar
melalui tugas-tugas atau kegiatan-kegiatan belajar 1 dan 2 baik yang harus
kalian kerjakan sendiri maupun bersama teman sebangku atau teman lainnya
sesuai instruksi guru.
Kerjakan tugas-tugas di buku kerja yang sudah kalian siapkan sebelumnya.
Apabila kalian yakin sudah paham dan mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan-
permasalahan dalam kegiatan belajar 1 dan 2, kalian boleh sendiri atau
mengajak teman lain yang sudah siap untuk mengikuti tes formatif agar kalian
dapat belajar ke UKBM berikutnya (jika belum memenuhi KKM kalian harus
mempelajari ulang materi ini kemudian minta tes lagi sampai memenuhi
KKM).
Jangan lupa melalui pembelajaran ini kalian dapat mengembangkan sikap
jujur, peduli, dan bertanggungjawab, serta dapat mengembangkan
kemampuan berpikir kritis, komunikasi, kolaborasi, kreativitas.

Showing Plans/Intentions

We use different verb forms to talk about our plans for the future – depending on what
kind of plan it is.
1. WILL
We use “will” to talk about plans decided at the moment of speaking.
Examples:
I forgot to phone my mum. I’ll do it after dinner. He decides to phone his mum when
she is speaking – she didn’t have a plan.
I can’t decide what to wear tonight. I know. I’ll wear my black dress.
There’s no milk in the fridge. I’ll buy some when I go to the shops.
2. GOING TO
We use “going to” to talk about plans decided before the moment of speaking.
Examples:
I’m going to phone my mum after dinner. I told her I’d call at 8 o’clock. He decided to
phone his mum before he speaks – he already had a plan.
I’m going to wear my black dress tonight. I need to pick it up from the cleaners.
I know there’s no milk. I’m going to get some. It’s on my shopping list.

Showing Plans/Intentions

SHOWING PLANS/INTENTIONS
We use different verb forms to talk about our plans for the future – depending on what
kind of plan it is.
3. PRESENT PROGRESSIVE/PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

Sentences with this use of the present continuous always have words or phrases
which refer to future time or the context leaves it very clear:
• Christina is meeting Melanie for coffee this afternoon. They reserved a
table at their favorite café. (They made specific plans and reserved
the table ahead of time.)
• Denny is starting a new job on Monday. He just had his final
interview. He's excited! (Denny has made all the
arrangements at the office and signed a contract.)
• Brad is having a garage sale this weekend. He's put out signs and
organized everything he wants to sell. (He has advertised for
the garage sale. It is set for this weekend.)
• Maggie and Ginger are going to the vet this afternoon at 6
o'clock. It's time for Ginger's annual check-up! (They already
have an appointment with the vet.)

For future actions or situations using the present continuous, all the common
future time words and phrases can be used:

this afternoon
tonight
tomorrow
tomorrow morning / afternoon/ evening / night, etc.
next week / month/ December / year, etc.
the day after tomorrow
the week / month / year, etc. after next
in ___ hours / days / weeks / months, etc.
___ hours / days / weeks / months, etc. from now
in 2020 (or other year)
on Christmas day / November 24th (future date)

Certain verbs, actions or situations in sentences cannot be used with the


present continuous with future meaning because they are not part of a plan,
an arrangement or an intention. The present continuous tense for the future
can only be used when an action or situation can logically be planned in
advance.
