FITRI TUAHUNS. The Correlation Of Age With The Vertical Distance Of The
Inferior Maxillary Sinus Floor With Maxillary Molars Using Panoramic
Radiographs at RSGM Ladokgi TNI AL Yos Sudarso Makassar.
(Guided by St. Fadhilla Oemar Mattalitti dan Yustisia Puspitasari)
Background: Over the age of 12 years the growth of the maxillary sinus is
inferior and at the age of 18 it is estimated that the growth of the maxillary sinus
has been completed. Sometimes the base of the sinus can go down between
adjacent teeth as well as the roots of each tooth, allowing the end of the molar root
to enter the base of the antrum. Sinus distance measurements with tooth roots can
be done as a reference for dentists in carrying out treatments related to
endodontics, extraction and implant placement. Objective: To determine the
correlation of age with the vertical distance of the inferior maxillary sinus floor
with maxillary molars using panoramic radiographs at RSGM Ladokgi TNI AL
Yos Sudarso Makassar. Materials and Methods: The study was observational
analytic using a cross-sectional method. Samples were taken as many as 20
panoramic radiographs of 10 photos of each age group, 12-18 years old and> 18
years in RSGM Ladokgi TNI AL Yos Sudarso Makassar. The digitizing
radiograph uses ImageJ Software to see the difference in the horizontal size of the
mandibular bone and then the Pearson Correlation test. Results: Based on the
results of the study showed that the average distance of the inferior sinus wall
with the apical root of the molar teeth from the two age groups 12-18 years the
right region 0.012 mm, the left region -1.124 mm. The age group> 18 years the
right region is 0.831 mm, and the left region is 0.884 mm. The results of the
Pearson Correlation analysis showed that the right p-value region was 0.746, and
the left region was 0.382 (p> 0.05).Conclusion: The hypothesis showed no
correlation between age with the vertical distance of the inferior maxillary sinus
floor in maxillary molars using panoramic radiographs at RSGM Ladokgi TNI AL
Yos Sudarso Makassar.
