Essay 1: What is your understanding about the two errors within educational assessment, Black box of
assessment practice. Logic of educational assessment and closing the assessment loop? (70 pts)

Error indicates the degree to which test data is inaccurate. There are various reasons why data may not
be precise. Let's examine some measurement errors that you may encounter when working with
student assessments. Variance between test scores and student knowledge. Errors in collecting and
compiling student data. Some discrepancy between test scores and student ability is expected, which is
why testing companies report the margin of error. There are a number of factors that may contribute to
measurement errors, such as the student's state of mind, the testing environment, and the presentation
of the test. Let's take a closer look at each of these factors. Theses are some of the issues your students
face that impact their classroom performance from one day to the next. These same issues may impact
their test scores; Hunger, lack of sleep, medications, family or friend problems and attention span.
Closing the loop begins with faculty and other stakeholders reviewing the assessment results and then
collaborating on possible improvement strategies that will be shared as common goals for the entire
program. Once the assessment is complete, the results should be used to shape improvements in the
overall assessment process and in the assessment of specific program and course learning outcomes.
Faculty will bear much of the responsibility for assessment improvements.
Essay 2: As a teacher decide on the portfolio that you want to give on your students: What will be the
purpose of the portfolio?, Who will be the audience? What will be the content?,What will be the
process?, and How are you going to evaluate? (30 pts)

As a major of physical education, I will use the learning portfolio because it allow me to tract my
students learning and achievements of the topics. I want to guide them one by one and assesess them
where they are at my subjects. Students at the end of every month they will gather the data of their
achievements in the subject. I will base there performance in the portfolio given. It’s important that you
set clear performance standards that outline what a student in a specific task is expected to accomplish
and how the work should be done. The same standards must apply to every student who holds the same
position. All performance standards should be achievable and they should relate directly to the person’s
job description.
