Ideology & Identification

 Basic identifications
• The contrasting perpectives and ideologies of the
contrasting Democratic and Republicans parties show the
American political spectrum divided into two very different
political identifications.

• the political spectrum is often identified with the Right term

for the conservative views held by Republicans and Left
parties for the liberal views held by the Democratic party.
 Basic ideology

social liberalism conservatism

an ideology that seeks a the holding of political views
balance between individual that favor free enterprise,
liberty, social justice and the private ownership, and
common good. socially conservative ideas.
 Main political agenda
• In addition to their ideology and perspective, the distinction
between the Left and Right parties is seen in the focus of the
political issues they often examine in government.

• Focusing on issues of individualist and classical liberal rights and

also economic growth which focus on the development of internal
aspects by private companies is a problem that is often discussed
by the Right side.

• Issues such as minority rights, gender equality and such things,

also national economic growth by relying on global cooperation as
widely as possible based on government regulation are often
discussions of the Left.
 The contradiction
• Republicans believe that a large and complex government can suppress the
personal rights of each individual because there will be many regulations that
can suppress individual’s freedoms. Regulations such as low-taxes are believed
can be a benefit to the firms so as to generate innovation and employment
opportunities as wide as possible. The Republicans believe in strong military
power to enhance national identity internationally.

• Democratic, on the other hand, believes that a large government can organize
society with pro-minor regulation of the rights of minorities and marginalized
people, they also believe in the high-taxes that companies must show,
Democratic also believes in military but they are more likely to focus on state
funds for humanitarian issues rather than funds to strengthen the military.
