ABSTRACT
Burn is the fourth leading cause of injuries / traumas after motor vehicle
collisions, falls, and violence, caused by contact with a heat source. As of 2004, 11
million burns required medical care worldwide and resulted in 300,000 deaths. About
90% of burns occur in the developing world. The number of fatal burns has increased
from 280,000 in 1990 to 338,000 in 2010. The number of mortality due to burns, one
of them, caused by the increase in hematocritsignificantly, causing damage to several
organs. The increase of hematocrit occursbecause the plasma discharge from vascular,
causes edema. The more extensive burns suffered by the patient, the more extensive
edema also formed. One of the initial examination of the burn is to determine the
degree of burns and hematocrit value of the patient.
