a. Deskripsi Singkat
Kegiatan belajar bahasa Inggris pertemuan ke- ... akan membahas tentang grammar simple
future tense baik secara teoritis maupun praktis.

b. Capaian Pembelajaran MK
Diakhir pembelajaran mahasiswa diharapkan mampu:
a) Mengidentifikasi simple future tense
b) Menggunakan simple future tense dalam teks tulisan sederhana
c) Menganalisa simple future tense dalam teks tulisan sederhana

c. Uraian Materi
Kegiatan belajar bahasa Inggris pertemuan ke- ... terbagi menjadi tiga bagian. Pertama,
Warming up atau pemanasan. Mahasiswa akan mendengarkan sebuah lagu berjudul
‘speechless’ OST. Aladin live action yang dibawakan oleh Naomi Scott. Kemudian
mahasiswa membaca lirik lagu ‘Speechless’ dan mereka harus mencari 10 kalimat yang
didalamnya terdapat kalimat simple future tense. Kegiatan pemanasan ini bertujuan untuk
mengukur pengetahuan dasar mahasiswa menegnai simple future tense yang telah mereka
pelajari sebelumya. Kedua adalah Let’s Dicuss, Mahasiswa diajak berdiskusi yang
bersifat sharing mengenai materi grammar simple future tense. Sebelumnya mahasiswa
sudah membaca Chapter 8 let’s discuss hal. 74 dan 75. Dalam kegiatan ini Pengajar
bertugas sebagai fasilitator yang mengarahkan jalannya diskusi. Apabila diskusi sulit
dibagun maka pengajar akan menggunakan metode teacher center yang menjelaskan
secara detail mengenai materi simple future tense dan lets discuss akan diakhir dengan
menganalisa (Let’s Analyze) bersama 10 kalimat yang terdapat pada lagu speechless.
Ketiga ialah Let’s do the excercises. Untuk mengukur pemahaman mengenai simple
future tense mahasiswa akan mengerjakan dua jenis soal latihan. Pertama adalah fill the
blank dengan kata kerja yang tepat untuk penggunaan simple future tense yang disedikan
dalam kotak. Kedua berupa fill the blank yang terdapat pada kalimat dengan penggunaan
modals dalam simple future tense yang tepat.

Let’s Dicuss

Simple Future Tense

The simple future tense is often called will, because we make the simple future tense with
the modal auxiliary will. The structure of the simple future tense is:
Subject + auxiliary verb will + main verb
WILL V1
For negative sentences in the simple future tense, we insert not between the auxiliary verb
and main verb. For question sentences, we exchange the subject and auxiliary verb. Look
at these example sentences with the simple future tense:

Will they Want dinner?
 Use the simple future tense for things that have not happened yet, but are going to happen.
You will be sick if you eat too much. I hope it
won’t rain tomorrow.
Sharon is ill. She will not be at the party.
We use the simple future tense when there is no plan or decision to do something before we
speak. We make the decision spontaneously at the time of speaking. Look at these examples:
Hold on. I'll get a pen.
We will see what we can do to help you.
Maybe we'll stay in and watch television tonight.
In these examples, we had no firm plan before speaking. The decision is made at the time
of speaking.
There are other ways of talking about future actions and happenings. We can
use „to be going to’ as replacement of will.
We are going to bake a cake this afternoon.
I‟m sure Mom and Dad are going to be proud of me. When
are you going to clean your room?

Let’s Analyze
Untuk mengetahui ciri ciri dari kalimat future simple,adalah dengan melihat struktur kalimatnya,
yaitu “apakah ada kata "will", atau tidak”. Dari kalimat yang sudah kita dapatkan, semuanya
terdapat kata " will, 'll, will not, dan won't”
Jika kita identifikasi:
