ABSTRACT
Films about superhero actors make children and teenagers enthusiastic and
interested in watching. The view of superhero films changes when there are scenes
that are out of bounds for audiences from children to teenagers. The scene in the
Joker film that shows non-verbal violence makes this film a dangerous film for its age
segmentation. The number of controversies that arise in this film related to the
content of film shows that are contra to its segmentation makes a study conducted
which aims to find out how the meaning and views of teenagers.
This study uses a qualitative approach, with a constructivist paradigm and
conducts in-depth interviews. The informants in this study were 4 teenagers,
consisting of 2 boys and 2 girls who had a penchant for watching movies and could
provide information about the meaning of related films.
The results of the study are in accordance with Stuart Hall's theory of
meaning, there are 2 informants in the Dominant Hegemonic Position category, HPI
female informants feel that film messages containing violence can affect a teenager's
mentality and cause trauma. The FR informant also agreed that this film is very
inappropriate for teenagers because the violent scenes in the film have the potential
to damage mentality and become a dangerous example for the social life of
teenagers. While the other 2 informants in the Negotiated Position category, they did
not agree with the messages of violence in the film, but realized that. The film is only
a form of entertainment and is able to filter the film's message well.
