Abstract
Background: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2016 the average rate of
exclusive breastfeeding in the world was only 38%. In Indonesia, although 96% of women
breastfeed their children in their lives, only 42% of babies under 6 months of age receive exclusive
breast milk. Breast milk production can increase through stimulation of the hormones oxytocin and
prolactin. And it can be obtained non-pharmacologically namely by massaging the breast as well as
adequate nutrition, through foods that contain alkaloid, polyphenols, steroids and isoflavones such
as green vegetables, fruit and nuts. Soy milk and katuk leaves contain active compounds, namely
polyphenols and flavonoids which fuction to increase the hormone prolactin.
Research Objectives: To find out the comparison of the effectiveness of consumptions of soy milk
and katuk leaves on increasing breast milk production for post partum mothers
Research Method: The research method is a two group pre-test and Post-test design. This design
involves two groups to compare effectiveness. The sample in this study consisted of 22 respondents.
Were analyzed using univariate and bivariate with paired simple tests
Results: States that the sig (2-tailed)value is 0.000 < 0.05 then the conclusion is that Ha is accepted
or Ho is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is an increase in breast milk production after
consumptions soy milk and katuk leaves in post partum mothers.
Conclusion: Comparison of the soy milk group with the katuk leave group namely soy milk
is more effective in increasing breast milk production in post partum mothers.
Abstrak
Latar Belakang: Menurut World Health Organization (WHO) tahun 2016 masih menunjukkan rata-
