ABSTRAK
ABSTRACT
Wagal is the final inauguration of the last customary marriage in a
customary marriage in the village of Golo Ronggot, Welak District, West
Manggarai Regency. The language used in the marriage of West Manggarai
tribe, has its own form and meaning and function in the cultural system.
From the perspective of semiotics, each procession always contains certain
terms or symbols that create new meanings in accordance with the context of
the situation. Based on the background, the purpose of this study is to find
out the procession, the semiotic form of language, the semiotic function of
language and the semiotic meaning of Wagal Indigenous Marriage Language,
Manggarai Regency, Welak District, Golo Ronggot Village.
This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data
source of this study came from interviews with informants. The main
instrument in this study is the researchers themselves with supporting
instruments in the form of interview sheets. Data collection is carried out by
observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out
using the analysis stages of data collection, data presentation, reduction and
conclusions.
Based on the results of the study, (1) Wagal procession consisting of
Podo (inter) and Gerep ruha (gerep: stampede; step on ruha: egg). (2) The
form of semiotic language of Wagal Indigenous Marriage Language,
Manggarai Regency, Welak Subdistrict, Golo Ronggot Village, which is
contained throughout this research, lies in two main points, namely lingual
and nonlingual form. (3) The semiotic function of Wagal Indigenous Marriage
Language of Manggarai Regency, Welak Subdistrict, Golo Ronggot Village is
expressive function, informative function, directive function, contextual
function and poetic function, and (4) The semiotic meaning of Wagal
Indigenous Marriage Language of Manggarai District of Welak District, Golo
Ronggot Village is , a) The meaning of culture is to strengthen the view of life
as a citizen of the community, b) the meaning of communication, c) the social
meaning of unifying kinship, and d) religious meaning.
