Background
Praise and gratitude for the presence of God Almighty, because of His grace
and guidance so that we as students from one of the interview groups in class
C, have carried out this activity smoothly and properly.
This interview activity is one of the assignments in the English Conversation
course which aims to obtain information from resource persons related to
inventory procces. Therefore, we interviewed one of the owners of an Umrah
and Hajj gift shop in Demak Regency. With the implementation of this
interview, we hope that we have fulfilled our duties and got good grades. And
useful for all friends
On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 3 pm we came to the Umrah and Hajj gift shop.
Our first impression of coming to this place is a comfortable, clean and well-
organized atmosphere. Of course we immediately met the owner of this business,
whose name was Mr. Abida Rahman Hakim and asked for permission to interview
him. This resource person was friendly to us.
Result of Interview
Opening Question : Good afternoon sir ! I'm sorry that our arrival here interferes with your
activities, we want to interview you about inventory management in your warehouse.
Answer : Yes, of course.
Question 1 : What business are you running ?
Answer : We are currently running a business for Umrah and Hajj souvenirs such as dates,
Arabic chocolate, chickpeas, herbal medicines, prayer mats and so on.
Answer : I usually organize the items in the warehouse by separating perishable items such
as dates, nuts, and arabic chocolate and non-perishable items such as prayer rugs,
medicines, etc. If in the shop the items will be grouped according to their type and price.
Answer : For perishable product’s such as dates, nuts, and Arabic chocolate. I'll put it in a
place where air circulation is maintaine.
Answer : Actually all food products here are often sold but dates have more enthusiasts
than other food products. So I’ll put it in an easy-to-reach place like on the bottom shelf.
Question 5 : What products are often in and out of the warehouse?
Answer : food products such as dates, chickpeas, and others. Because in addition to selling
well, food products are also more easily spoiled or damaged
Answer : there are companies that supply goods or we buy our own at a wholesaler. Usually
we also buy in Arab villages or order them directly from Arab countries
Answer : We usually check the goods in the warehouse or store every 1 week 1 time. To see
the expiration date or already looks rotten. if there are items that expire in less than 1 month,
we will separate them into the promo shelf, if the items are still not sold, we will throw them
away
Answer : There are 4 permanent employees and 4 non-permanent employees. These non-
permanent employees usually only come when there are goods vehicles that want to stock
the warehouse.

Based on the results of our interview, Mr. Abida's warehouse sells Umrah and Hajj gifts.
There are perishable items such as food and some non-perishable items such as herbal
medicines and prayer mats. Therefore, the inventory management applied must be in
accordance with the products stored. For the inventory process, Mr. Abida uses a rolling
system to manage his employees. and restocking goods from warehouse to store is done
when the stock of goods runs out or almost runs out.
