BAHASA ISTILAH
01 Perkataan Ulum adalah dalam lafaz
jamak daripada perkataan ‘ilm. Ia
02 Ilmu yang membahaskan tentang Al-
Quran, sama ada dari aspek penu-
boleh ditakrifkan sebagai kefa- runannya, bacaannya, sejarah
haman muktamad yang menepati pengumpulannya, penyusunannya,
fakta sebenar. penulisan dan pentafsiran, I’jaz,
nasikh mansukh,sebab-sebab turun
ayat, I’rab serta gharib al-Quran..

Zarqani Imam al-Suyuti

Ilmu-ilmu yang mempelajari Suatu bidang dan ruang

tentang Al-Quran itu sendiri, lingkup ilmu yang mem-
sama ada dari segi penu- bicarakan tentang al-Quran
runannya, pengumpulannya, dari segi penurunannya ,
pembukuannya, pemba- sanadnya, adabnya, mak-
caannya, pentafsirannya, nanya, lafaznya dan lain-lain
I’jaznya, nasikh dan man- yang berkaitan dengannya
sukhnya dan semua perkara
yang berkaitan dengan Al-
Quran.

AL-QUR’AN
Al-Quran, merupakan kata terbitan daripada (‫ )قَ َرَأ‬yang bermaksud menghimpun
kan. Ibnu Abbas berkata apabila dihimpunkan dan digabungkan ia di dalam hati
kamu, maka beramallah dengannya. Dan dikhususkan dengan kitab yang ditu-
runkan kepada Baginda Nabi SAW sebagai tanda kenabiannya.

Firman Allah SWT:

ُ‫ِإ َّن َعلَ ْينَا َج ْم َعهُ َوقُرْ آنَه‬

Maksudnya: Sesungguhnya Kamilah yang berkuasa mengumpulkan Al-Quran itu

(dalam dadamu), dan menetapkan bacaannya (pada lidahmu);

(Surah al-Qiyamah, 17)

AL-KITAB
 Al-Kitab dari segi bahasa bermaksud “himpunan”. Oleh itu, dinamakan al-kitab
kerana dihimpunkan di dalamnya pelbagai ilmu, kisah dan pengkhabaran.

 Imam fakhruddin al-Razi di dalam tafsirnya menyatakan al-Kitab merupakan

kata terbitan seperti al-Qiam dan al-Siyam. Para ulama bersepakat bahawa 
al-Kitab memberi maksud kepada al-Quran

 Al-Kitab dari segi istilah ulama usul bermaksud al-Quran. Ini seperti mana
Firman Allah SWT:

َ َ‫ك ْال ِكت‬

‫اب تِ ْبيَانًا لِّ ُك ِّل َش ْي ٍء‬ َ ‫َونَ َّز ْلنَا َعلَ ْي‬

Maksudnya: dan Kami turunkan kepadamu Al-Quran menjelaskan tiap-tiap

sesuatu dan menjadi hidayah petunjuk, (Surah al-Nahl, 89)
AL-MUSHAF
 Dr. Wahbah Zuhaili di dalam tafsirnya menyatakan, al-Mushaf berasal
daripada perkataan ashaf yang bermaksud mengumpulkan al-
Suhuf (lembaran). 
 Al-Sahifah bermaksud lembaran kulit atau kertas yang ditulis di atasnya.
(Lihat al-Tafsir al-Munir, 1/14). Di dalam al-Mausu’ah al-
Fiqhiyyah menyatakan al-Mushaf adalah nama yang ditulis padanya kalam Al-
lah SWT.

Firman Allah SWT:

‫ُف ُّم َك َّر َم ٍة‬
ٍ ‫صح‬
ُ ‫فِي‬
Maksudnya: (Ayat-ayat Suci itu tersimpan) dalam naskhah-naskhah yang dimuli-
akan, (Surah Abasa, 13)

Imam al-Razi di dalam tafsirnya menyatakan, yang dimaksudkan ayat di atas

adalah hal kemuliaan al-Quran dan menggambarkan al-Quran itu disimpan, iaitu
AL-MUSHAF

 Imam al-Razi di dalam tafsirnya menyatakan, yang dimaksudkan ayat di atas

adalah hal kemuliaan al-Quran dan menggambarkan al-Quran itu disimpan,
iaitu disimpan dengan sempurna di dalam (suhuf) lebaran-lembaran yang
terletak di Luh al-Mahfuz yang dimuliakan Allah SWT dan al-Quran ini suci
daripada gangguan syaitan.
AL-NUR
 Nama selain bagi al-Quran iaitu al-Nur disebabkan menyingkap perkara
kebenaran dan menerangkan perkara yang tidak jelas tentang halal dan
haram serta memberi penjelasan yang tidak dapat dicapai oleh akal fikiran.

 Imam al-Suyuti di dalam kitabnya menyatakan, bahawa nama al-Nur ini di

sebab memberi cahaya petunjuk kepada permasalahan yang tidak jelas dalam
hal halal dan haram.

 Firman Allah SWT:

‫نز ْلنَا ِإلَ ْي ُك ْم نُورًا ُّمبِينًا‬
َ ‫ان ِّمن َّربِّ ُك ْم َوَأ‬
ٌ َ‫يَا َأيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَ ْد َجا َء ُكم بُرْ ه‬
Maksudnya: Wahai sekalian umat manusia! Sesungguhnya telah datang kepada
kamu: Bukti dari Tuhan kamu, dan Kami pula telah menurunkan kepada kamu
(Al-Quran sebagai) Nur (cahaya) yang menerangi (segala apa jua yang mem-
bawa kejayaan di dunia ini dan kebahagiaan yang kekal di akhirat kelak).(al-
Nisa’, 174)
AL-FURQAN
 Al-Furqan, Imam al-Suyuti menyatakan, dinamakan al-Furqan disebabkan al-
Quran membezakan di antara perkara yang benar dan batil.

 Dr. Wahbah Zuhaili di dalam kitabnya menyatakan, di namakan al-Furqan 

disebabkan (al-Farq) iaitu membeza di antara al-Haq dan al-Batil, al-
Iman dan al-Kufr serta kebaikan dan keburukan.

 Firman Allah SWT:

َ ‫ون لِ ْل َعالَ ِم‬
‫ين نَ ِذيرًا‬ َ َ‫ك الَّ ِذي نَ َّز َل ْالفُرْ ق‬
َ ‫ان َعلَ ٰى َع ْب ِد ِه لِيَ ُك‬ َ ‫تَبَا َر‬

Maksudnya: Maha berkat Tuhan yang menurunkan Al-Furqaan kepada ham-

baNya (Muhammad), untuk menjadi peringatan dan amaran bagi seluruh pen-
duduk alam.(Surah al-Furqan, 1)
