Pengertian Sistem Endokrin
Sistem endokrin adalah sistem kontrol kelenjar tanpa saluran ( ductless)
yang menghasilkan hormon yang tersirkulasi di tubuh melalui aliran darah
untuk mempengaruhi organ-organ lain.

Sistem endokrin dan saraf bekerja bersama-sama untuk mengontrol dan

memadukan sistem tubuh untuk mempertahankan homeostatis tubuh.
Perbedaannya, hormon bekerja dengan cara mensekresikan hormon,
sedangkan saraf bekerja dengan mensekresikan neurotransmitter yang
dihasilkan oleh ujung-ujung saraf (postsinapsis).
 Secara umum fungsi kelenjar endokrin dapat disebutkan sebagai berikut:
1. Mensekresikan hormon yang dialirkan langsung ke dalam darah (tanpa saluran khusus atau
ductless) yang diperlukan sel, jaringan, organ tubuh tertentu.
2. Bertindak mengontrol aktivitas kelenjar tubuh
3. Merangsang aktivitas kelenjar tubuh
4. Merangsang pertumbuhan jaringan
5. Pengaturan metabolisme, proses oksidasi, meningkatkan absorbs glukosa pada usus halus
6. Mempengaruhi metabolisme lemak, protein, karbohidrat, vitamin, mineral, dan air.
7. Memelihara lingkungan internal tubuh agar tetap optimal dan homeostatis.

Macam Macam Kelenjar Endokrin
1. Hipofisis

Hormon yang dihasilkan oleh kelenjar hipofisis dibedakan berdasarkan

lokasinya, yaitu:

a) Lobus Anterior

Hormon yang dihasilkan yaitu:

 Hormon Pertumbuhan (growth Hormone)

 Hormon Perangsang Tiroid (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)
 Hormon Adrenocorticotropin (ACTH)

 Hormon Gonadotropin
 Hormon Prolaktin
2. Tiroid (Kelenjar Gondok)
3. Paratiroid / Kelenjar Anak Gondok
4. Kelenjar Adrenal / Suprarenal / Anak Ginjal

5. Pankreas

6. Kelenjar Gonad

a) Ovarium
• Esterogen

b) Tertis

Dalam bekerja terhadap sel target, hormon mempunyai tiga mekanisme
kerja utama, yaitu:

1. Mengubah permeabilitas saluran (membran) dengan bekerja pada

protein saluran (protein kanal) yang sudah ada;

2. Bekerja melalui sistem pembawa pesan kedua (second messenger)

untuk mempengaruhi aktivitas sel;

3. Pengaktifan gen spesifik untuk sintesis protein baru.

Berdasarkan lokasinya, reseptor hormon dibagi
menjadi 3 (tiga) kelompok yaitu:

1. Reseptor membran (secara umum untuk hormon

protein, peptida, dan katekolamin)

2. Reseptor sitoplasma (steroid)

3. Reseptor nukleus (tiroid dan steroid)

Kesimpulan
Sistem endokrin adalah sistem kontrol kelenjar tanpa saluran (ductless) yang
menghasilkan hormon yang tersirkulasi di tubuh melalui aliran darah untuk
mempengaruhi organ-organ lain. Kelenjar endokrin tidak memiliki saluran
yang menyalurkan hormon secara langsung ke darah. Zat kimia (hormon)
akan disekresi oleh kelenjar endokrin dan diangkut ke seluruh tubuh melalui
peredaran darah ke sel, jaringan, atau organ yang membutuhkan. Hormon
bertindak sebagai pembawa pesan dan dibawa aliran darah ke organ sasaran,
pesan akan diterjemahkan menjadi suatu tindakan.
 Mekanisme kerja kelenjar endokrin yaitu dengan melepas hormone-
hormon dari sel khusus ke dalam aliran darah. Hormone dibawa ke
sel-sel target (responsie cells) dan terjadi efek hormone.

Hormon dalam bekerja juga memerlukan reseptor spesifik. Reseptor
pada umumnya adalah molekul protein dengan struktur tertentu
sehingga hanya melakukan pengikatan dengan hormon/analog
dengan struktur hormon tertentu. Reseptor hormon terletak di
membrane sel/sitoplasma sel. Dengan demikian hormon yang
dibebaskan ke dalam darah hanya bekerja pada sel atau jaringan
tertentu yang mempunyai reseptor spesifik terhadap hormon
tersebut.
