Jenis-jenis alat ukur:
Berdasarkan sifat aslinya, dapat dibedakan atas:
•1. Alat Ukur Langsung
Yaitu alat ukur yang dilengkapi dengan skala ukur yang lengkap,
sehingga hasil pengukuran dapat langsung diperoleh.
Contohnya : jangka sorong, mikrometer.
•2. Alat Ukur Pembanding
Yaitu alat ukur yang berfungsi untuk mengukur beda ukuran suatu
produk dengan ukuran dasar produk yang telah diperkirakan terlebih
dahulu dengan blok ukur.
Contohnya : dial indicator.

•3. Alat Ukur Standar
Yaitu alat ukur yang hanya dilengkapi dengan satu skala nominal,
tidak dapat memberikan hasil pengukuran secara langsung, dan
digunakan untuk alat kalibrasi dari alat ukur lainnya.
Contohnya : blok ukur.
•4. Alat Ukur Kaliber Batas
Yaitu alat ukur yang berfungsi untuk menunjukkan apakah dimensi
suatu produk berada di dalam atau diluar dari daerah toleransi produk
tersebut.
Contohnya : kaliber lubang dan kaliber poros.
•5. Alat Ukur Bantu
Yaitu alat ukur yang berfungsi untuk membantu dalam proses
pengukuran. Sebenarnya alat ini tidak bisa mengukur objek, namun
karena peranannya yang sangat penting dalam pengukuran maka alat
ini dinamakan juga dengan alat ukur.
Contohnya : meja rata, stand magnetic, batang lurus.

Alat Ukur Pembanding
Yang termasuk dalam kategori alat ukur pembanding untuk pengukuran linier
tak langsung adalah : Jam ukur (dial gauge), Pupitas (Dial test Indikator), Alat
Ukur Pembanding Ketinggian, dan kaliber.
1. Jam ukur (dial gauge)
DIAL GAUGE atau ada yang menyebut dial indicator adalah alat ukur yang
dipergunakan untuk memeriksa penyimpangan yang sangat kecil dari bidang
datar, bidang silinder atau permukaan bulat dan kesejajaran. Konstruksi sebuah
alat dial indikator terdiri atas jam ukur (dial gauge) yang di lengkapi dengan
alat penopang seperti blok alas magnet, batang penyangga, penjepit, dan baut
penjepit.
2. Pupitas (Dial test Indikator)
Pupitas disebut juga jam ukur tes atau dial test indicator yang berfungsi untuk
mengetahui kerataan permukaan benda kerja dan mengukur daerah toleransi
suatu produk. Perbedaan dengan dial indicator yaitu terletak pada sensornya.
Sensor pada pupitas berupa lengan dengan ujung berbentuk bola dan
gerakkannya seperti busur, mempunyai kapasitas pengukuran yang lebih kecil
yaitu antara 0,2 s/d 0,8 mm.
3. Alat Ukur Pembanding Ketinggian
Alat ukur pembanding ketinggian disebut juga kaliber ketinggian adalah sebuah
alat sebagai pembanding ukuran ketinggian standar dengan tinggi objek ukur
yang terdiri atas:
- Kaliber induk ketinggian
- Blok geser, pupitas atau penggores.
4. Kaliber
Kaliber adalah alat ukur yang digunakan untuk memeriksa batas ukur secara
langsung atau tidak langsung dan juga sebagai alat pembanding ukuran.
Ukuran pada kaliber terbagi menjadi dua, yaitu ukuran standart sebagai acuan
dan ukuran standar batas atau limit. Ukuran standar sebagi acuan adalah
kaliber yang berbentuk blok ukur, yang dibuat khusus dengan ketelitian yang
sangat tinggi. Blok ukur ini digunakan untuk mencocokan ukuran dari alat-alat
ukur dan digunakan pula sebagai alat kalibrasi untuk menera alat-alat yang
aktif digunakan. Sedangkan ukuran batas atau limit digunakan untuk
mencocokan ukuran dari alat-alat ukur yang tingkat ketelitiannya dibawah dari
jenis kaliber ukuran standar.
Jenis dari kaliber ada beberapa macam antara lain kaliber roll, kaliber bola,
kaliber poros konis, dan kaliber celah ( snap gauge ).

 Cara Pengukuran
 Pasanglah dial indicator sehingga posisinya
tegak lurus dengan benda yang akan
diukur (setiap penyimpangan sudut 10
derajat hasilnya akan berkurang 0,001 mm)
 Saat memasang tumpuan tambahan,
rapatkan pada bagian bawah stem
 Gunakan titik point (contact point) yang
sesuai dengan rencana pengukuran
 Gunakan pengangkat pada saat
mengangkat spindle
 Gunakanlah alat pemegang yang kuat dan
pasanglah sehingga titik pusat dari gaya
berat berada diatas alasnya. Atur jarak dial
ke tiang sekecil mungkin, apabila
diperlukan gunakan sebuah beban
penyeimbang

 Hindari kejutan / benturan yang keras

 Menyimpan peralatan harus bebas dari

sinar matahari langsung, kelembaban yang
tinggi, debu atau kotoran
 Membersihkan peralatan sebelum dan
setelah selesai dipergunakan dengan kain
halus

 Jangan sekali-kali melumasi poros

pengukur bergerak (spindle) dengan

 Titik pengukuran (contact point) yang
sudah aus harus diganti dengan yang baru

1. Buka cover dan lepaskan jarum
2. Cek kondisi gigi spindle
3. Cek kondisi gigi besar, gigi penggerak dan gigi pinion
4. Pastikan pegas tidak kusut
5. Pasang kembali semua gigi, setting ½ putaran gigi penggerak
agar pegas tindak kendur
